Full Version: M215 vs. M800

I recently have acquired these two pens. The 215 has a medium nib and the 800 a fine one. Still, my 800 seems much "wetter" ( as a newbie, I assume that to mean that the ink flows freely) and though it has a fine nib, seems to have wider and darker lines than the 215. The 215 does not flow as freely and almost seems like a fine point. Is this because of the materials, size of the nib, etc. - or are one of my pens behaving in an aberrant manner?

As always thanks for any responses.

Assuming that they're not outrageously wet/dry and are acceptable to you, I'd chalk it up as just slight variations in the manufacturing process.

Same ink in both pens? That would make a difference.

What rroossnick said about ink.

And it is my experience that the F on the M800 is as wide as the M on the 2xx/4xx models. I questioned this too when I first got an M800 after a variety of smaller Pels, but learned it was normal for the larger nibs. Sure is a sweet writer, though!

Next opportunity, try out a F or EF on a 2xx/4xx to see the difference.

Yes, I have been using the same ink. I may send the 215 nib to Chartpak and have them look at it.
