Hi folks!

I just bought a Parker duofold on ebay. It has one gold band on the cap which I assume signifies taht it is made of Hard Rubber.

What is the best method for me to bring the original shine back to the hard rubber? Do I need to use a special treatment?

Thanks,

Robert

if you want to polish the pen, any number of products may be employed
.
if you want to restore the color of bhr, you enter the can of worms - to reblacken or not to reblacken
.
either way, the search button at the top of the page next to Help will take you to a number of threads on either subject, such as this one:
reblackening

I got the pen today. Not to bad for $49 on ebay. The imprint is still there, barely and the nib is fine and in good shape. The clip has a little brassing and the caps are faded.

The pen has a single gold band. Black Hard Rubber caps, and button filler.

Is the nib section screwed in or pressed? Any tips on replacing the sac? Can you point me to some instructions?

Now I just need to find a Senior!

Thanks,

Robert

I have used Pensbury Manor Black Hard Rubber Pen Potion No.9 Black Hard Rubber Dye from Syd the Wahlnut from www.pensburymanor.com, on an very user grade "Boston Safety Pen" which I picked up from Fleabay for low cost (sold to me as Waterman). I feel the product is good for user grade pens. If someone has an heirloom or pen in good shape they should look into the G-10 Process as I have read many good things about that. By the way after the dye was dry - I also used Car wax to seal it in and Son of a Gun to replace some oils in the rubber or so I think smile.gif
This might not fly with the purists or not be true to pens - but it does look great.
I also have an old Duofold and would like to change the sac - so any pointers are much appreciated.

OK, I got the section unscrewed from the barrel. How do I get the nib and feed out of the section. It doesn't look like I can drive it out because of this curbed tube section that protrudes from the nib section.

Can you experts help me out here?

Thanks,

Robert
