Hi all,

I just took possession of a Platinum "long-short" pen. I got a couple Platinum cartridges with it, but before I pop one in, I was hoping someone could recommend someplace that I could buy more carts.

My understanding is that this pen will use all Platinum carts - can someone confirm this?

Additionally, I would like to get a Platinum converter, for flushing and cleaning. I know the correct sized converters are hard to find, and don't hold a lot of ink. I don't plan on using the pen with the converter for its source of ink. I've resigned myself to using Platinum ink, or refilling carts with bottled ink. Can someone recommend someplace to buy a converter that will mate correctly with this pen?

Thanks in advance,

-- Edmund.

Hi Edmund - try Pendemonium for the cartridges, also they may have the converter.

Thanks for the quick reply.

They seem to have a good price on the carts.

Unfortunately, they are currently out of stock of the Platinum converter. Do you (or anyone else) think that the International adapter would work well enough with a "international" converter? I have a short plunger converter that I could probably use for this.

Just for fun, which pocket pen did you get? I have the metal one with black stripes and white gold nib.

If you know a Japanese store, ask them. I bought some black cartridges, new Japanese market packaging, at this one evil store that only allows store credit on returns inside a month. The black ink feathers. Some old blue ones I got later weren't as bad.

All Platinum cartridges? They might be the Japanese company that has only ever had one kind of cartridge. Pilot had shorter ones before and Sailor has skinny ones.

It sounds like you already know about the whole new piston converter doesn't fit in the short pens and the shorter squeeze converters were discontinued long ago thing. If you get the adapter, I don't see why you couldn't just use a converter for cleaning. Or you might rig up some kind of big bulb. Piston converters are so slow for flushing.

I don't have an adapter yet, so I haven't tried out an adapter plus a Euro cart in the short pen. I still don't have the converters for my regular sized pens either. When one refills cartridges, it's nice that the Platinum ones are durable.
