Good Morning all !!
I just received yesterday my "Place de la Concorde", and yes it is a wonderful object AND my first impression is also that it will be a fantastic writer.
I was surprised to find it was so light... so I'm just then wondering, has anyone of you any idea about how resistant it can be, as I can take care of it in a daily working environment, but I can't take extra-super-care of it, if you see what I mean.
I'm ready to change my mind on the 'weight vs perceived solidity' issue...
Thanks for your inputs, and have a Smoothy new Year !

I'm not sure about the toughness of a Pelikan since I've never dropped one or subjected it to much abuse.

But regarding the weight vs. toughness issue. I once dropped the cap from a Mont Blanc rollerball (one of the better, big, heavy models) . Well a piece broke off. This despite it being quite heavy.

So weight alone does not equate to toughness.

I can't vouch specifically for the Place de la Concorde, but my m800 has become my everyday workhorse pen. I've never dropped it though. smile.gif Its funny, my cellphone has so many dings in it from times I've dropped it, but I've yet to drop a pen.

Right,
So I definitely have to forget about weight and toughness being related, and just use the standard procedure when manipulating the pen.
And this is good news, as it is a sooooooo good writer, how is it no-one told me before about these Pelikans ??
And now, back to searching the right ink...
Thanks

I bet you Noodler's Ottoman Azure would work beautifully in that pen. wink.gif

Well, I just tried yesterday the PR American Blue, and it's already beautiful... but somewhere I'm just wondering if I would not be perfectly pleased by something a tad 'lighter'...
Anyway, on with the writing !!

The non-metal Pels are light, but they're not particularly fragile. The City Pels are based on the 600, which uses a plastic piston mechanism. The M800 and M1000 use a brass mechanism so are heavier, but from what I've researched, the brass mechanism is no more durable than the plastic ones. I've got an M200, an M605, and a Grand Place. One day I'll have to get an M800, I guess. But for that I'll need deeper pockets -- and I mean that both literally and figuratively...

Thanks. Anyway, and I repeat, it's very nice to write with. And I repeat : how is it no-one ever told me about it ??
I might try to write a review for this, but then I will need some language assistance...
