Picked it up this evening. What a beautiful pen! It writes flawlessly too. I am a little surprised at the heft. I did not notice it as much in the store. Those of you that have the m800 - did it take a little getting used to the size? It is not bad - but I have an average size hand.

congrats, that's a great pen to have and to hold smile.gif it is quite a large pen, but you can get used to the heft--or get a smaller M-series pelikan for longer writing sessions.

Congratulations on the new pen. I have two m800s, and rather enjoy the heft. I tested the m400, m600, m800, and m1000 extensively at a local B&M store. Although the m600 was the size that best fit my hands, I'm now so used to the weight of the m800s I find they're just as comfortable as my m400. Although if we're talking about marathon writing sessions, I'll probably pick a lighter pen.

uh, you may suffer from Pelikan thumb if you keep using it, I will be more then happy to help you out if you want to send it to me.................... tongue.gif

It is my favorite all day , every day pen. I have 3 and will probably get a few more, have sooooooo many nibs to try............. wink.gif

The heft actually helps with the balance in my large hands. You are using it un-posted...?

I am a newbie, so I am unsure what "unposted" means. If that means without the cap on the back - no, I generally leave the cap on. I think I had the cap off at the store, which is why I didn't notice the weight as much.
Sounds like most folks kind of get used to it though. smile.gif

Some pens I must leave the cap on because of the way the pen rests in my big paws. With the M800 I sometimes do and sometimes don't, it is more of a mood thing, if that makes any sense. unsure.gif I have also ntoticed that at times the cap can change the clarity of my writing, I just realized I am a very strange person. Oh darn, here they come with them silly pills again. blink.gif

Yes, posted or unposted means cap on or off. laugh.gif

It didn't really take too long to get used to the size of the M800 ( I used to feel a cross century 2 was the perfect size). But despite having this I find myself reaching for the Pilot Myu of Pilot Custom 823 more often. I use the M800 for long writing sessions. Be careful though, ruined a shirt and suit jacket when the cap came unscrewed in my pocket, and I didn't realize till someone thought I'd been shot (Noodler's walnut looks like dried blood on blue or cream tongue.gif)

Don't fight with your pen. Use it whichever way you like. There is no correct answer to "post the cap or no".

Thanks everyone. I'm am still admiring the beauty of it. I anticipated getting a medium nib, expecting it to be less scratchy. But I tried a fine nib, and it writes like butter. Couldn't be more pleased. biggrin.gif

I'm a M person myself, but I do own a Pelikan F that was sent off to Chartpak for tuning, and when it got back. Wow, thats a smooth F. Steel nib (m200). My m800 has been in my rotation since I purchased it, which I believe was a month ago, along with my VP, which joined the rotation maybe 3 weeks ago. So now I've got two solid daily users, and the third slot in my pen case is the wildcard (lately its been a Hero 100 flighter).

But, back on topic, enjoy the m800! It does have a bit of heft to it. I typically do not write posted, except maybe with smaller pens. I typically remove the cap and leave it open end down standing up somewhere on my desk. The weight of the m800 really is too much with the cap posted for me.
