Well, this was a christmas pressie from me to me.
Pam Braun kindly sent one across the pond for me. What a smashing pen; I bought it for the quality of the nib (see Richard Binder's site for a review) which does exactly as it should. Flex in a friendly (semi) manner.
As a native Brit. I use and enjoy Diamine inks, thus I filled this little rascal up with 'Diamine Grey'. The colour just suites this grey, misty and mellow winter time of year. (in the UK that is)
This is another example of Japanese pens at their best. I can highly recommend this pen as an everyday writer, a treasured pen etc.
The black and gold livery looks smart rather than 'bling, bling' and most important of all it withstands the handbag test (girls you will know what I mean)

I'm so glad you like it!! I have the same idea myself--Falcon as a lovely gift to myself biggrin.gif I was afrad I'd built it up in my mind so much that I would be disappointed once I actually received it. But seems as though we're of a mind--I'm also about utility over flash, since I've never had an everyday writer that really suited.

I know my boyfriend is planning to buy me a Namiki VP in the ice blue, but I think I want the Falcon even more...I might be so crass as to ask him for that one instead, although he may not be bothered since Pam has such a good deal on it at the moment. Then there is also the matter that I can't decide between the Falcon and a Pelikan 400, not that I won't have them both at some point... rolleyes.gif

I would encourage anyone thinking about a Falcon to consider getting one modified for flex by John Mottishaw. It turns a nice pen into a really extra nice wonderful pen, IMO. (I was just using mine right this second.)

This is the second thread about Falcon pens, and I am glad folks are finding nice pens that suit them. I am also an anti "bling" kind of guy, and I appreciate conservative aesthetics as well as the focus on the utility of a pen. As I said in the other thread, remember to use a light hand with a flex nib until you get the hang of writing with it. Check out the Penmanship forum to see what possibilities a flex nib can provide you.

katya, the Falcon and the Pel M-400 are quite different pens for different kinds of writing. For me, some of the essence of pen collecting is exactly the idea of having different pens to do different things as my mood changes, or as my writing needs vary. I would eventually get both to experience their differences, and build on that experience to expand your collection. - I am enabling here! biggrin.gif

Good luck.

Katya, I have a blue carbonesque VP which I love to pieces. I recently acquired a Richard Binder stub nib for this little treasure. Wow, what a pleasure, money well spent.
May I suggest that you ask the BF for them both; after all, how much does he love you?
Good luck.
