Full Version: Filling a Pelikan 120

Hello There--

Just received a Pelikan 120 in the mail. 50's model, I believe.

I've only used lever fills up until this point, and really don't know what I'm doing. Found some generic Pelikan filling instructions online, but the "knob" that you twist on the butt of the pen is a bit popped out on the illustration. This one twists, but doesn't seem to pop out (don't want to force it and break the thing).

Tried the routine described anyway (just twisting, with the knob still flush to the end of the pen), but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. There's enough ink in there to scribble a bit, but I assume the little green window is supposed to fill up?

Anyhoo, if anyone can point a piston filler newbie in the right direction, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks.

Well, nothing easier. First unscrew/untwist the black "butt" of the pen, all the way up, until it stops. This will bring the piston at the very bottom of the transparent ink reservoir. You will be able to see this. Than, immerse the nib into the ink bottle, and start screwing/twisting back the black end knob. This will bring the piston up, sucking ink from the bottle. That's it. I am writing with my green 120 now, with some blue-black in it. Another thing I discovered today, don't flick the pen, this will make it spit ink all over your desktop...

enjoy,
Nenad

but... If the knob is twisting without going up, there is something wrong with the pen, and I suggest you contact the place you got it from...

Thanks, Nenad.

The knob was just a little stiff, and I was being too gentle with it.

Anyhoo, all filled, and it seems to write beautifully. Very different feel than my Esterbrooks, and the old Waterman.

I'll keep the "no flicking" tip in mind;)

Thanks again.
