I got a great tip from a fellow FPNer that Levenger had m800s at deep, deep discounts. So, I started calling around to the individual stores, and finally found a store that had them in stock. I got a red m800 with a broad nib for $104.00 plus shipping!

I just ordered today, and frankly I'm skeptical that this will actually go through (only because the price is so unbelievable).....but here's hoping.
Anyway, if anyone wants an m800 - you might want to give them a call. The woman sounded like they have more in stock at that price.
Thought this might interest someone.

good thing an 800 is too big for me (what with me being rigid and unable to change my opinions about what is comfortable to my hand).
Saves me $100 bucks.
But that is a heckuva a deal. I doubt Levenger would mess with you on this. They may be doing dumb stuff with their own products, but that doesn't mean good discounts on other brand pens. Let us know how it turns out.
edited for duum speling misteak.

Yeah, I will, KCat.
I passed on the news to my brother and he got the last m800 along with two m400s for a total of $208. Now that is just ridiculous!

As of 11am PST the Memphis store had amber M200s with medium nibs for $39.95 and honey M400s with medium nibs for $79.95. The Boston store has a few M800s with broad nibs.

dang, what a deal! i'm sorely tempted to start calling, but having just gotten a mint m800 a month ago for what seemed like the bargain price then of $158, i guess i should just wish everyone happy hunting, and spread the good luck around.... hmmm, what's levenger's boston number, anyway?

ok, here it is for anyone who cares to call:
(617) 536-3434
the memphis number is (901) 682-2466. tell us how it goes!

Which branch was it that you got the M800 for $104, Ryan? The Delray store in Florida gave me a quote of $199.xx for the two remaining M800s they had. The salesman sounded rather disinterested when I called, and mentioned that they had some M300s too, although I didn't inquire further as they're way too small for me.
I also tried the Memphis store. The very cheerful saleswoman said the only Pelikans they had left were the M400 Honey (medium) and M250 in amber (medium). She didn't find any M200s. I snagged a honey, and there was still one left as of... um... around 3:15pm EST.

Oh, here's the
list of Levenger stores with their phone numbers and addresses.
For those who've not shopped with them, their shipping is a very reasonable $6 (via FedEx).

I got mine from the Delray Store. I was absolutely shocked when the salesperson said they were only $104.00. It's odd that they priced others at $199.00, helius - I wonder if only certain colors were deeply discounted. It seems that some pens were priced differently - my brother got one m400 for $60 and another for $38 (!), so I'm not sure what the deal was. Funny thing was, he spent $208 for an m800 and two m400s, and he got a $25 gift card for spending over $200. These people are hilarious!

It's just strange that chain stores have different clearance prices. Anyway, I'm glad that my first Pelikans will be, um... coming home to roost soon? :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1:

I've got a Pelikan coming home to roost...I think.
Actually, right now, I've got two.
The one I got yesterday, and the one that's coming home from Chartpak. Hopefully here today!

Sorry kCat, I was looking for M2xx/6xx/8xxs. I called the Delray store again at around 11am EST this morning, and got a much nicer woman. She actually rattled off a list of their remaining Pelikans, and I finally nabbed myself an M800 in green, fine-nibbed for $105+shipping. :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1:
They still had two M400s for $60, a 405, an orange 320, and a blue ocean for $200+.
They must hide their pens from each other or something. Very strange store.

I went to the Boston store yesterday and the salesgirl there told me that Levenger was selling off their remaining stock of non-Levenger pens. I didn't tell her what I thought of that business decision, partly because she likely didn't care, and also because I assume that Levenger is making a rational decision based on their sales history.
The bottom line is when these pens are gone, that's it. It will be all Truewriters (ugh) and the like for the foreseeable future.

I'm on the phone with the Memphis store right now and it appears that there are still a few deals left. No Pelikans, but you guys might want to drop a call in there and see if there's anything that tickles your fancy.

Re: Memphis store.
Strange. I called half an hour or so ago to get my tracking number, and the lady told me that they were all out of non-Levenger fountain pens. Either they have a strange way of tracking stock, or the salesperson you were with was hoarding all the pens.

About the only way to make it work is to actually ask a salesperson to go to the case and list out what they have.
If you can get Tammy on the phone, she's a big help. Tell her that Ryan sent you!

She did mention a couple of special edition Stipulas for $40. You might look into those?

Thanks, Ryan. They need to get some sort of a centralized inventory system or something.

Or maybe it's a blessing in disguise... no more pens in stock would mean that I'm not tempted to get more pens!

I know the feeling. I'm very tempted by a Conway Stewart at one of their stores as well.

Wow,
I'm such a novice with fountain pens. I wish I had known better than to buy their Verona for $70 when they were offering them for sale a little while ago, and saved my pennies for a Pelikan 400. :-(
I didn't know about FPN before that. I've learned so much from this forum since joining a month and half ago.
Blessings,
Dave
