If you are right handed you might want to angle the paper to the left to make achieving the slant easier.

Hold the pen relaxed, make sure the tines direction lines up with the line you're drawing/writing ( if you don't do this your straight lines will have jagged edges. and the writing feels and looks less easy ).
( AntoniosZ posted a nice picture here somewhere, will see if I can find that )

Like Ann said, one normally wouldn't start with the a ( but with some varied lines, basic strokes and instructions on how to hold the dip pen I think) but this will work too wink.gif ( and I've found it more motivating when you are able to write actual words ( "cab" comes to mind in three weeks ) than to really start with the basics..Besides, this way you know what's coming next week .

To start, you might want to find it easy to work with guidelined paper.
You can download Graph Paper printer here.

I don't really remember where I downloaded these instructional sheets - if anyone finds the source please let me know so I can give them credit.

EDIT : The server seems to have trouble !( aaargh...) ->Used different server, sorry for delay ! .

Antonios has a really nice flex instruction that makes it much clearer than my fog-headed description of how to keep the tines parallel to the line you're writing smile.gif
