I've been intrigued these pens for a while, but there's very little discussion of them around here. Lately, I've been attracted to the celluloid pens, which appear to be identical between Platinum and Nakaya, so I'm wondering about the connection of these two companies.

Also, the nibs look almost identical as well - are they? For the celluloid version, the prices are pretty similar...is one brand considered to be better than the other?

I've also looked at the Briar Wood fountain pens, which seem very cool. Anyone have opinions?

Hi,

Not bought, but from the beginning Nakaya was always run by the owner or Platinum. Nakaya was put together for a few retired craftmen from Platinum.

Nakaya and Platinum are two separate companies that share the same owners.
Nakaya pens use Platinum components, but are custom-made for individual customers.
The nibs can be ground to suit a specific person's writing style and preference.
