Hello to all the Waterman folks out there. As a Sheaffer collector and user, I'm not very familiar with the W-Brand other than a few I've picked up over the years. My question is whether or not old Waterman Eyedroppers make good daily users or are they just eye candy. I'll upload a pic tomorrow if you all like. Regards,

Absolutely. I am using tonight a #12 with an early star nib and I am enjoying every moment of it. I had a Remex eyedropper inked on my desk over the last month or so. Never failed to started and delivered an decent line every time I picked it up.

Yes indeed, highly usable. You might, however, find that early pens have a tendency to go "Gloop" when they're nearly empty, which is largely, I think, a question of unsophisticated feeds (perhaps the normal cause of glooping in humans, too?)
My 12 is a beautifully light and graceful pen to use, but.
Best

Hello again. I'm sorry about the picture. I won this pen on eBay over the weekend via a gavel auction. They're local so I thought I'd just waltz in and pick it and a few others up but alas, twas not to be. It seems that eBay has yet to email them a complete list of winners so they won't let me have it until that email arrives. So I'll have to rely on their pic from the auction.
The pen is a Waterman c1910 #15 POC. It actually has both a ring and pocket clip. I'd never seen one like that so I thought it would be a nice addition to my collection. It also comes with its original box plus a Christmas box. I inspected the pens in person so there won't be any surprises.

Peter looks like you got a very nice pen

POCs are desirable, and size 5 is chunky.
How much?

Well, this is going to go down as one of the best deals I ever got as the Taperite set with 14k solid gold caps and the basically perfect 15 POC cost me 90 dollars plus commission and tax in a Live Auction.
Sweet, huh?

The near mint BHR is very attractive.
But do show us the nib!...

And finally the clip. Can any Waterman Collectors out there put an exact date on this pen? I'm thinking about 1910. Also, have you ever seen a pen with both clip and ring top? This seems to make it an odd pen indeed.

That is one sweet deal you got there, Pete.

I've seen a clip on a ring top before but I'm no expert. How'd the rest of your haul turn out?

The haul was good. I ended up getting the three Waterman's, a lot of 24 Sheaffer's and one giant Edison as seen below. The Senior Sheaffer Apple Jade is for size comparison only.
The Sheaffer haul included 10 NoNonsense pens that are hardly worth mentioning. The real stuff in that lot was the Tuckaway Masterpiece as shown in the Sheaffer forum, two balance pen/pencil combos, a sterling pencil with enamel and a few other niceities.
I'll probably post more pictures of the Edison in a posting where I found some other information on this unusual company.

One more Edison thing is that the color is much better than the previous picture showed so here's one more. Its a real WOW pen.

Pete,
The Edison is impressive!.... There is a post on Edison in Pen History (Brian A. has a nice hexagonal Edison RMHR).
I presume that the pens you got were from the Irving Goldman collection!... Very nice!!!
This give even more "value" to your catches. You did very well. Most of Goldman's pens were sold in 2003 and this last sale were the leftovers but what great leftovers!...

Very true. To my benefit the live auction was being held near me in Beverly Hills. I went to the auction house office and previewed 10 or 12 lots that caught my fancy. I then settled on 6 that I bid on and eventually came away winning 3 lots.
I found the old 2003 listing and saw all these pens I won. They hadn't met their reserve at the time.

Congratulations on the new additions. That must've been some collection originally.
