I like it a lot. It works nicely in my P51 Broad for marking at school and the shading is great when used in an Italic pen. Not Red, not bright orange, but somewhere between.

Cayenne is one of my favorite colors!

The ink I use most is the mix you mention. It really pops off the page. I've been calling it Richard's Faux Tanzinite since he gave me the recipe at my first pen show way back when. I like the name Burple better! Sorry Richard.

Actually, I can't claim any originality here. The recipe is pinched from one of Richard's posts on this site and the "Burple" came from one of my A-level students.

But I agree that it is a great colour - it works in fine pens, broad pens, Italics...

...Not too conservative and not too garish. Just right.

The Cayenne contrasts brilliantly with it as an underliner, notes or correction colour.
