I just received a nice Duke FP in the post today, but it's my first one with a filler inside (where you screw the plunger up and down to fill...thats right yes?)
Are these permanent or can they be replaced with cartridges? I don't want to go yanking it out if it's stuck fast lol.
Thanks,
Calv.

It sounds like you have a standard twist converter in the Duke, which can be removed. You can use a standard long or short cartridge in its place.
Do you know the model of the Duke you have? The Duke #2007 (also goes by the name "Mini Torpedo" or "Rose Gold") has a squeeze bar -- no twisting would be involved and is secured to the pen, and you cannot use a cartridge in this pen.
Hope that helps.

Lol totaly ignore this thread, i've just had a quick look at the ebay piccy and it clearly shows a screw plunger and clearly says it can take cartridges!
It was'nt anything special, just a cheapy one, i just liked the look of it. It feels really nice though in my hand, quite heavy for a pen but it's the first time i've felt one that heavy and i rather like it.
Silver inlay black enamel Duke FPThanks for the replys anyway.

Hey, I have that pen! I like it-- writes very smooth. Yes, it's cheap, but it doesn't look or feel cheap. You also got a good deal. I bought mine at isellpens.com (no affiliation) for $16.99 (plus shipping). I've seen it retail for $65.00 though. It's quite heavy. Glad you like your new pen. Have fun with it!

That pen is known as the Duke Ruby -- from the "ruby" in the cap end.
I also bought that model from Quanticoltd here in the UK a few months ago -- paid £3 plus £3 postage and packing.
It was one of the best writing experiences I'd had, including 40 years of using Parkers and Pelikans.
I now have 7 Dukes, all costing no more than £20 (around £12) each including postage and packing. I have them filled with different inks and use them in rotation.
The best deal was on the Duke Silver Rings bought from Hong Kong for less than £5 (incl p & p). This is a large, heavy pen -- same size as a Pelikan 800 but much heavier. Came in a superb box that puts everything else to shame. This one is my pen of choice at the moment and my Parkers and Pelikans are currently retired from service.
Once you've discovered the amazing value of Duke pens you won't be able to resist the temptation to buy more.
