First of all: I like the FPN very much - it's nice to be able to discuss the important matters in life (pens and penmanship) with people, who understand - without to much explaining.
And now to my question: Am I the only one having trouble changing from one tool to another or one script to another? sad.gif

If, for instance,I write a lot using a slim pen, I usually have bad writing for a day or two, if I change my tool to a bigger one - I spend a lot of time getting used to write with the other tool - and the other way round: from a big barrel to a slim makes my letters ugly for at least a day.
I experience much of the same ,if I chance my style from just, say cursive Italic to basic italic (Getty-Dubay style) - lots of shaky letters untill I'm in the habbit again.

I have experienced this for about the last four years - dating from the time I realized ,I wrote with my fingers (I was taugth so in school) and tried to do something about it - so maybe this is just inexperience? or I am just not taking changes very well? biggrin.gif

Anybody else, who have tried this?

kind regards
Henrik

For me, the key is practicing with whatever it is every day, so that I can switch gears without thinking.

So clearly you need to write with each of your pens, and in each style, daily!

I like the Getty/Dubay italic style as well, and I did notice that my ability to start writing in a more careful cursive italic improved once I started working on it a little bit every day.

Dear Sonja Siomone,

thank you for tha advice - I actually write at least tree or more pages a day, but I can see now that I will have to double that -( equal practice for both pens) biggrin.gif

Being a teacher I should have known: practice - practice and practice blush.gif

best regards
