I have a Pelikan M800 that I bought 4 months ago.A truly fantastic pen.But the very stiff nib isnt exactly my cup of tea.So I used it few times and just stored it with the rest of my collection.Latly I was thinking to trade it maybe for a M1000.
I think the M800 is a better writer but latly I have fallen in love with BIG pens.
I never write with them (like my MB 149,Waterman Edson) and I thought to add the bigger M1000 since I dont use the M800.
I want to see what would you do if you where me.

Oh and sending the nib to Mr Binder is not an option since I hate the tought this beatiful nib will get grined and worked on.

I have a friend that I belive will be willing to trade my near mint M800 for a M1000 and the money I will have to add on the M800 shouldnt be too much.I assume around 100$.

Yeah, I'd trade for the m1000, if I were you. You'll appreciate the larger size and springier nib, which seems to exactly what you want, so why not? I've heard that while the m1000's nib is nowhere near truly flexible, it is a decently springy nibs–definitely more so than the m800.

I wouldn't trade myself because I think the m800 is the perfect size for me....but that just personal stuff there.

I don't quite understand everything you said in your post, but if you would like to trade, and your friend is willing, then why not?

You mean you have a 149 and an Edson, and you don't use them? Why not? They won't make you any money. (You can get your purchase price back out of them, but no big profits - unless you bought them super cheap.)

Sending your pen to Richard Binder is not dangerous - it comes back as itself, only better. You don't get an unrecognizable pen, unless you ask for that.

Hi David

I collect pens and really hardly use them.
For everyday pen I use an Omas Paragon that for me is the absolut perfect pen and I see no reason to switch between pens all the time.
So the rest of my pens just sit in the pen cabinet.Among them is my 149 and the Edson which I probably never sell.

As for Richard I know he is the best but as I said the thought of this beautiful nib being grind makes my skin itch so I never consider any work on a new pen.

Well, another option, if you like the 800 and actually want to use it for writing and not just collecting, would be to purchase an additional nib that is customized to your preferences... that's one of the advantages of Pelikan, since it's so easy to change the nibs. That way you could keep the original nib, but also have a nib that matches your writing preferences...

My budy is looking into trading in my M800+a Pilot VP for the M1000.
I am waiting for his answer. The deals price difference between the M800 and the M1000 is 90$ so I believe the VP will easily cover the difference.
