How about posting a picture of all your pens together, whether it's in your pen case or laid out on the table.

(As the topic starter, I know I'm supposed to start with a picture too....I promise that tomorrow or over the weekend)

Not all of them but it this is what my wife and I use in our daily rotation.

Give us the rundown on what's in that case! The only one I can positively identify (other than by brand) is the VP.

I wonder what the Mad Dr. I is going to post to this thread? If he fits all his pens into one photo that fits on the screen without scrolling we are all going to need magnifying glasses.

I'm afraid that wouldn't be physically possible. Well, at least you wouldn't be able to see all of them.

Hi,

I have a hundred or so pens and pencils which I will shoot and post soon. You will have to squint at the screen and maybe need to bear a really long list of pens. (maybe I won't list them after all) This will take a while because I have to take them out of my rotating rack shoot them and put them all back in the proper order. I have quite a few good ones. biggrin.gif

Then again, it was me who was thinking of selling all my pens, but a lucky few.
I can't do it, I need the pens for reference.

I really like Italian pens, but you won't see that many. You may see many many German pens, and a bunch of Japanese ones. There will be plenty of American pens, mostly Sheaffers (I have a very large number of them). A few Chinese pens too, and a few nice Waterman('s) pens, and some Parkers. I have a few very good pens, most of which are Italian, my favourites and my perfect pen. biggrin.gif

Wait, it is coming! biggrin.gif

It's not crazy to keep all 6 Pelikans. If anything, you should have more wink.gif

[You know KCat would agree with me if she were posting in this topic right now]

RichardS - I always love seeing your pen collection - such beautiful colors!

That Tosca is a monster! Does it write as nice as it looks?

Here is my collection of fountain pens:

From left: Sheaffer Javelin, Parker 45, Parker Frontier, Parker Inflection (x2), Parker 17, Pelikan M800, Waterman Expert II, Waterman Hemisphere (x2), Cross Century II.

A Pelikan M250 (Dark-blue cap) will be added next week from Regina Martini in Germany.

All of my pens are modern except the Parker 17 which is vintage.

I have been collecting fountain pens for about 3 years now, but since I'm a student I don't have as much money to spare for pens as I would like to (do you ever have enough money?? rolleyes.gif).

Hi Ryan. Yes, the Tosca is a fairly imposing pen; I bought it in a closeout from Winedoc. The nib is two-tone, but the base metal of it is steel. marked 'Iridium Point Germany'. It's a very nice writer in fact, similar to the Winedoc's famous $27 pen. Of the two, I prefer the Tosca as it has a very nicely shaped and tapered section.

I'll post a mini-review with pics at some point.

I had a few Pilot Varsities that I take into work with me. I handed one to the doc I worked for so he could sign a letter. He looked at the obviously disposable pen and told me that he only uses fountain pens.

I told him it WAS a fountain pen, at which point he took off the cap and signed the letter.

He then spent 15 minutes quizzing me on what it was and where I'd gotten and how much it was because he said it wrote better than the very expensive gold one he always carried!

After that he would always sign his letters at my desk, with my pens. biggrin.gif

Morning!
Great selection!

My question is on the case in your pic...is that a MINKA sample case that their reps used? I ask because I've got 14 of them filled with pens! When I was in the pen business, I made sure I always got the sales rep's sample cases when they dropped the line (or got fired!)...and sometimes with the sample pens in them!

My favorite cases were from Yasutomo (Niji) which hold 144 pens in the slotted trays and another approx. 40-50 in the large area at the bottom of the case. So I've got 7 of these cases (missed out on 6 more!) and have approx. 190 in each, 14 Minka cases with 32 per case, 14 leather/vinyl zippered cases that hold about 48 each...hmmmm, too many to photograph!

My wife says I should just lay down & she'll pile the pens on me (kinky!) and shoot a pic...NAH, too dangerous, especially with two 130lb. Akitas! Don't want any unnecessary breakage.

Doc(always havin' fun with pens)Nib
PS--Love all the collection pics so far!

Lets contribute...

First of all, I decided to show only my main collection, the Deltas I have been able to add slowly to my FP family. The rest does not fit in my light tent roflmho.gif This way I may show 22 of them all in one image, not easy to find such a group around.

Front row (left to right)
Ainu 1k, Maasai, Indios, Inuit, Joaquin Rodrigo, Nazareth, Citta Reale, Venezia, Segovia, 20th Anniversary, Ainu 1ks, Touareg.

Tried out the digital camera last nite and the new HP "All-in-One" Officejet (my first try with the camera instead of just scanning...not bad, but still needs a bit of practice!
Here's what I call my "Forbidden" case...only DocNib is allowed to go in it (OK, my wife, NurseNibble can too!). Overlays, overlays, overlays...40 of them gleaming, flaxen & waxen (remember the song HAIR?)!
It will take a bit, but I can do a list later if demand demands.

I can't resist them and they are usually inexpensive.

They made a lot of them like it, I think. When is yours from? I got mine for $51 on eBay-- it has a Mabie Todd & Co. New York 313 nib, and came in its original box. Is yours also by Mabie Todd?

OK, I gave this the old college try. Add these to my previous post of 14k pens and this would be about half the family pen fortune. At least these are (for the most part) the half that I think are worth my camera time.

Seems like I'm not all that abnormal. I have started threatening the wife with a glass viewing cabinet - after all how can I show off my pens on Shabbat (the sabbath) when I'm not allowed to use them? And what's the point in having them all sat in cases with the lid closed? No I have to USE some and VIEW them but currently they're all either in cases or stacking up for some serious repair sessions. I'd better post a photo of mine just to show you - huge Sheaffer fan but there's more...

I'm not sure my yetzer tov could withstand an all-out assault by beautiful Fountain Pens displayed handsomely in full view at home on shabbat. 95% of my pens are left at work, locked up in the office in the shul where they are "out of sight and out of mind" on shabbat.

At home on display? Oy Vey, the temptation. sick.gif

Mostly kidding, of course, Rabbi. biggrin.gif But it is nice that shabbat and halachah and that strange concept of muktzor are brought to our friends on FPN.

Hi,

I'll post mine after I lock my brother ("How much does that one cost? I want to buy it...") and Slushy ("I'll...if you get rid of that one.") out of the room and spend an afternoon with my sisters (and maybe my mom) weeding out all of the pens I don't really want anymore. Ah, the good old days... Well, maybe to make life easier, we'll just kick all of the pens out and focus entirely on Italian pens. Hastil anyone? laugh.gif
