For those of you who live in Washington, DC, or Northern Virginia, Levenger's is opening a store in the Tyson's Galleria. They will open a kiosk tomorrow, and its store will be up and running by mid-December. I live five minutes from there. I told my wife that a Levengers was opening and she just nodded and said she had an errand to run. When she returned, she showed me the cattle prod that she had purchased and warned me that she wasn't afraid to use it.

May we suppose the cattle prod is to get you moving out of the house over to the mall to shop at Levengers?

Wow, I wish my wife would buy a cattle prod to move me in that direction. I think rather she'll be having the doors and windows barred to prevent me from leaving the house. smile.gif

I live in Manassas so maybe I'll see ya over there, Bill_D

Of course, my wife really didn't buy a cattle prod (yet) but after I made that post I realized that would probably backfire. When I go to Levenger, I will have to buy something. A set of Levenger 3 x 5 index cards wouldn't be worth a jolt from a cattle prod, but one of those beautiful Cambridge brief bags? Zap away.

sad.gif Oh sure, now they open a store.
After I move to the land of chewed pencils they open a store wallbash.gif

Maybe it is for the best, they moved into the most expensive mall I know of. I'm sure thier prices will be higher.

But still, couldn't they open while I was still there?

Here's a post on another board recently... this is an indication of how they are changing their approach to sales I think... originally pointed to by P. Bloch on Zoss list:

Leveen On Levengers - SouthBeach CEO Mag.

It looks like we'll likely see more stores opening up. I also suspect that the brand-focus in the recent fountain-pen glut (picked up some nice deals there), is suggestive that they're trying to make themselves more Levenger-Centric. [Gone are the MB's, and Pelikans etc... likely in their future.]

I don't know right now whether or not I see a difference in their paper quality- I'm still torn on that... but it appears that there is a difference at least in some batches. I've also noticed, as I've used a bit more of my broader nibs, that their papers tend to have some feathering. But, with broader nibs it's quite difficult to reduce feathering.

I do love their 3x5 cards still... even with slight feathering on some that I'm noticing. I need to price-shop around to see what I can find. I know Exacompa has some nice quadrille 3x5's, but I like the styling of Levengers a bit better. I'll have to try some Exacompa just to see what their paper quality is like.

I will say, however, that I do love their products. Even at a high price, they're wonderful. I have one leather folio which is just beautiful leather (purchased on sale for a great price)... I hope that they continue to have the excellent customer-service I experienced with them as they continue to expand.

If you think I might have something you're interested in hearing more about, don't hesitate to PM me and ask!

Cheers!

ps- who has *some* Levenger stuff, but certainly not as much as I wish I had... but for a college-student, I have enough to be happy. wink.gif Practically everything bought on sale...
