Hi All,

i bought a sheaffer balance limited edition about an hour ago on Ebay. Can someone please give me some additional information about it. I can't find much on the internet concerning this limited edition pen, but i am sure some of you will know something about it. I always wanted a balance the same way i wanted a PFM. I got the PFM already and today i pulled the trigger on the balance.
What is the value of this pen (i paid about 250$) and i am curious to see if i did ok
thanks in advance

The picture looks good, but as to value, I am not that up on Sheaffer, but there are those who are.

Limited Edition pens are always more than the normal production, so that price could be OK, certainly cheaper than a new LE Pelikan blink.gif

I have several modern Balance pens, but the Balance LE is my favorite. It seems to be a hair wider in girth than the other Balances and I like its feel in my hand. I have a stub nib on mine, and it writes wonderfully, much more an italic than a stub. The lever fill mechanism has worked flawlessly, but - this is my only criticism - it doesn't hold as much ink s I would like. But I tolerate that issue because the pen is great overall.

As for the value, I can't help either. I really do not recall how much I paid for mine. But I like it so much the cost becomes almost irrelevant.

Good luck with yours. Tell us how you like it.

Is this a vintage pen or a modern reproduction of a vintage pen?

The latter (modern reproduction of a vintage pen...but the pattern on the pen is new)

Wow, that's beautiful for a modern pen.

Thanks for the replies guys,

i am looking forward to receiving the pen sometime next week and will be posting my initial impressions about it. It was more of an impulse purchase than a well researched one, but i do love the shape of the Balance and had to have one!
I think that Classic pens bought the left over rods with the same pattern from Sheaffer and created along with Sailor a limited production writers series that also looks really nice!

This limited edition was £500 new, and in the past examples have fetched £200 in mint condition.

I recently had one that looked just like this on my workbench to replace a broken feed. It was a Chris Thompson Replica & was an incredible pen to say the very least. The $250.00 you paid for it is a great buy in my book.

Great score
