Greetings:

I just ordered another nib/converter for my Namiki VP and was wondering if any of you had found a good way to carry a spare inked converter with the nib attached.

If they don't come in some sort of case, I will look around for a plastic tube or something about that size, but am just looking for ideas.

Pilot make some nice cases for them, in a variety of different finishes and trims, including a raden finish. They're a bit on the expensive side, but they come with a button (or in some cases now, a twist-knob) for extending the nib unit out so you can write with them too.

Sorry.

That sounds like exactly what I am looking for. If you could advise who has these things it would be much appreciated. I haven't been able to locate them.

um....cliff355, I think he was describing the VP pen.

Sorry, Cliff - I was meaning the pen - joking. I've not actually bought a nib unit on its own, so I've no idea if they come with any sort of case, but it would make sense - though they might want you to buy more pens to keep them in.

Well, that actually brings up the question of how much a VP WITHOUT the nib unit would cost. I have 2 VP bodies and 3 nib units. I'm thinking, just buy another body. If I find a place that sells these very functional nib "cases" I will report back.

Now I get it. It is pretty likely I will get another VP(s) in the future, but no matter how many I get I will still have at least one extra nib/converter.

If I could have bought another VP with one of Mr. Binder's cursive italic nibs in it, that is probably what I would have done. However, it appeared to me he only sold the nibs so that is what I ordered. The result is going to be one "out-of-pen" nib anyway you look at it, but it shouldn't be that tough to come up with a tube or something to carry the spare.

I think Richard Binder sells "standard round, gold" nibs for the VP for US$25 on his website. Maybe you can work backwards to arrive at reasonable prices when haggling for a body? smile.gif
