Full Version: Another question about fake Sonnets

My son just bought this pen on Ebay. After reading articles on Penhero and Stylophilesonline as well as some posts here on FPN, it looks to be legitimate but I am not 100 percent sure. Could you please give me a your opinion? Thanks.

Chances are that your son has the real thing Ben.

1. The overwheming majority (if not all) of fakes have a pretend 18K nib as it increases their chance of making few more bucks.

2. The seller "looks" legit and pen-aware (although this is not 100% guarantee - I know of one e-bay seller with tons of pen transactions that buys and resells Sonnet fakes)

3. The only other possible tell-tell signs are the boxes (check: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=18572 if you have not done it yet) and cosmetic defects at the joints (see http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...?showtopic=6940)

I have bought from this seller before and I was very happy with the service. In fact I bought that very pen from that seller. He has several in stock I think. Unfortunately its the one I dropped and needs to be repaired. As far as I can tell it is the real thing. I do have a second Sonnet to compare here as well.

I am reasonably sure that the seller is quite fountain pen savy. I'm pretty sure they do pen repair and nib tuning as well.

Thanks for the help. I was pretty sure it was real but since my son is spending well over a month's allowance, I wanted to make sure he was getting a good pen.
