sorry about the messy writing - getting tired and having trouble with the pseudo-flex nib.
also sorry for the drop-out in the name of the ink. I forgot to fill it in with the proper spelling.

Hi KCat,
Thank you for the review!
I see you're having flow problems, which is a bit weird. It flows very well in my pens, and one of my driest writers, my Pel M800 OM nib, does very well with it. It looks like true purple then. When I use this with my flex Onoto, it goes very much darker, and becomes almost a black purple in the densest parts. This is exactly why I like it, from a well-defined purple to almost black. And yes, it has blue undertones in it, otherwise it couldn't be the "Royal Colour"

.
Kind regards, Wim

i'll play with it a bit more later. I haven't had flow problems with my Falcon so not sure why it's not as good here. I'll have to look at the pen - I can't recall if I have a converter or a cartridge in there. The converter seems to restrict flow somewhat.

Hmmm. I haven't notice flow problems in any of the pens I've used the color in it, either. (Or maybe I'm missing something....)

That's a great color. It's in the family of colors that I tend to use most often. I'd probably get some, but I think I have enough blue-purple inks.

grrr.... was writing and the pen just stopped.
no flow at all. I've had various inks in this pen with no problems. Don't know what this is about.

Sorry to hear that KCat, but it sounds to me like it is the pen. I haven't had such troubles with it in any pen, and I have tried it with a few...
Maybe a reaction with the remnants of a previous ink?
Hope you get it fixed quickly.
Kind regards, Wim

it's all in the eye of the beholder, but my opinion is that this ink was a disappointment because I was looking for a purplish-blue, but indeed (as you can see in my comparison with Iraqi Indigo) it is a bluish-purple. For those looking for a blue ink, you will have to mix (as I now do with Glacier Blue, to make a lovely color I might add)...
I found this scan on my computer and apparently never posted it.

Thanks for the scan, Matt. I hadn't seen KCat's original post and it's always very helpful to see a page written in the ink color.

No real disappointment, I think. Bluish purples are currently growing on me. They are more widely usable than other purples. Its all the fault of Standardgraph inks (Violet and Forget-Me-Not-Blue).

I love this ink. I tend to use it as my blue (that's what I tell everyone it is so I don't sound too foppish for using a purple ink). As others have noted, it changes shade depending upon the pen and can change color depending upon the pressure as well.

This is a great color. I've been using it since it first came out and have not had any problems. I use it in my M800.

I'm guessing that La Couleur Royale is Noodler's answer to Tanzanite. They are quite similar; my impression is that the Noodler's is somewhat less dazzling in color, and less unruly in flow. Both are very attractive, and very useful for mixing.
