Nice pens you have there----the shot looks rather "arty" to me smile.gif
Sorry I can't help with the photography question (hubby is the photographer in the family) but I am sure someone is going to recommend using diffused light in the form of a light tent so I'll wait for their response....

Oh, what are the 2nd and 3rd pens from the right?
(from L to R, I see a Pelikan Pelikano, a Pelikan Level 65, a Stipula Ventidue, a Visconti of some sort, and lastly a modern Sheaffer school pen)

Pelikano Junior, Level 1, Stipula 22, Visconti, Visconti, Sheaffer.
Sorry I can't be more discriptive, all the boxes and paper work were taken by the Tornado.

JD a couple of suggestions on your photo.

What sort of camera setup are you using? That would help to know.

1. The photo has a significant amount of color noise. This can be due to the camera. It can also due to low light conditions.

2. There is a lot of glare on the pens. This is due to direct light, and can be fixed by using a light tent which will diffuse and soften the light. A very inexpesive light tent is a simple lamp shade.

3. FOr some reason all of the dark tones are "clipped". If you check a historgram of the photo which shows the distribution of light to dark tones, you can see that the darks have been shifted upward.

4. The picture is too large for screen display. You can resize the pic to 800 pixels wide for good size to be visible on most monitors.

I did a little photoshop work on your photo to try to correct 1-3. Here is the result.
