Hi,
I recently purchased my first FP a Cross ATX (cobalt black, its lovely). When buying it the seemingly knowledgeable shop assistant informed me that I should not use Quink with the pen as it had a solvent in it which would eventually lead to the pen stopping working.

Is this true?

Also so far I have only been using the cartridges that came with the pen in it, which ink should I go for? I would like a nice Blue/Black for work.

Thanks,
Alvyn

I used the older quink with solv-x with no probs, and the latest quink i use,
washable blue is safe. As for BB, check the ink review section.
Enjoy!

Don't worry about Quink - it has been used in many pens for a long time with little problems. But, there are better inks (imo) and I don't use Quink (because I have had problems with it skipping, and believed all inks did this - but perhaps it is just me).

Enjoy the search - this site is a tremendous surce of information on inks.

Bought a bottle of Washable Blue on the way home, so we shall see how it goes, going to be using it for note taking nothing to important and on moleskine paper. Never used ink from a bottle before, im quite excited by the whole thing. Now just to pop in the convertor and im off.

I found Quink doesn't lubriate as well as Waterman inks, so you might give that a try as well, especially WM Blue Black...

I have far less experience with ink than Wim, but i've found washable blue
to work best in all my Cross pens for some reason.

It seems to be working well so far, had some notes to write up this morning and some forms to fill in and the ink is working wonderfully. It seems to work a lots better with the moleskine paper than the cross cartrdige black ink.

I never thought I would enjoy writing with a fp so much. Although I did get my fingers covered in ink whilst filling up smile.gif

Alvyn,

You should look here at the Blue-Black ink poll.
