OK... I can't find it... someone posted, looking for a company that made sealing wax stamps......

Had an ipifiny (epifiny.... awh heck I can't spell it...... that little light that flashes in your head when you have an idea....)

Anyway... using sculpy... make exactly what you want stamped.... then make a dam outta a couple of layers of heavy paper... seal the bottem edge... then pour in melted pewter.... (Jas. Townsend sells it... (a re-enactor supplyer...))

OK.... I haven't done it (yet) but I have read of others that have cast boulsters for knife handles using pewter and paper.... so It should work.......melting tempiture is sopose to be less than papers flaiming tempeture.... or something like that......

I wanna make a skull and crossed bones... kinda like what the Phantom used in the "Phanton of the Opera".... just not quite that thick.....

I've made stamps outta soapstone but a sculpy "master" mold would have finer detail.... I think the sculpy and pewter should work, Sculpy shouldn't burn at pewter casting temperatures.... dang... gotta try it and post the results....

If it does work..... cool can share the idea..........

Has anyone else made thier own sealing wax stamps ?

Also..... is there a good source for sealing wax? I have two sticks left... but they are almost used up... so I need some more.......

Hi,

Well, James Townsend (that you mentioned) sells sealing wax and a skull with crossed swords seal. I use a seal, the fouled anchor, that I got from them and like it. I don't care as much for their sealing wax, though. Lately I've been using sealing wax from Atelier Gargoyle , and I like it a lot. I think if you search FPN, you will find seals and sealing wax have been discussed before.

good luck with it smile.gif
