Full Version: Ink "leak" from section ring

Hi there,

I know this pen is a cheapie, but I really like the way it writes. Fine, wet, awesome nib.

But I've noticed that when I hold the pen by ring around the section, I end up with a bit of ink on my fingers. This is not a ring to access the converter (I assume it's to the feed, but I can't get it open with a small amount of force).

I put some epoxy around it yesterday. It wasn't pretty but it worked. But then the cap scraped some of the epoxy away and now it's happening again.

Any other home-fixes you can suggest?

I can't take pictures at the moment, but maybe tomorrow.

I had the same problem with the same pen. I too like the way this pen writes.

I applied the shellac with a small brush all the way around the ring. I let it dry thoroughly. Then I wiped the excess from the section with alcohol. (This eliminated the added thickness from the shellac.) I don't know what the long term effects of using alcohol on the section might be, but as you said, it is a cheap pen, so I was willing to risk it for the chance that the leak would be fixed. And it was.

I use this pen daily and it's been over a month and it has not leaked.

Cheers,
Laura
