Just a quick review, I 'd like to share the cool new inks that arrived today. (I love getting packages in the mail; it's like Christmas!)
:bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1:

In my excitement to see what everything looked like, I did a bit of a rush job. For example, I normally can spell Cactus. biggrin.gif

Noodler's Nightshade: A nice conservative dark muted purple. It has enough color not to appear black when used with the XF flex dip nib shown here, but not so much as to call attention to itself.

Noodler's American Eel Cactus Fruit: A really saturated, vibrant ink. (I believe the Eel series contains more dye than other Noodler's inks.) The color looks about half way between hot pink and maroon. I can't wait to ink up a fountain pen with it.

Noodler's Turquoise: A lovely teal color, it's lighter and less green than the Noodler's Squetege by several shades. The closest ink I have to this is the PR Blue Suede, but the Turquoise looks a bit more blue.

Swishmix Tahitian Pearl: I'm quickly becoming a devote of this ink line. I have the Lakeshore Spruce and the Burgundy already. They seem to flow well and dry quickly and have fewer problems than some of my other inks on junky paper. The Tahiitian Pearl looks almost like a very dark teal rather than a blue black, but that may just be because it's sitting next to the Turquoise swatch.

Swishmix Nile Ebony: Noodler's Polar Black (old formulation) has been my standard ink for awhile, but this stuff may change that. The flow seems superior, it's just as opaque and it's very black indeed. Time will tell.

Montblanc Seasons Greeting Scented Ink: I bought this mostly for the novelty factor, but I quite like the color. My allergies are acting up today, so it only smells vaguely perfumey even though I left the cap off of the bottle as I wrote. I do like the color, which much richer than my other MB inks. The MB black and green bottles that I own have very cool packaging (love those inkwells,) but the ink itself seems watered down more than a cheap well drink at an over priced bar.

Every one of these inks seems to have feathered on this cheapo twenty pound bond paper. I think it's a nib user error rather than the inks'.

Hope this was helpful,
Kate /:)

The writing is done with a offset copperplate dip nib, rinsed and dried between different inks. The large strokes are done with a Q-tip.

The paper is Advantage brand ink jet paper 24 pound weight and 94 brightness.

Thanks Kate, I really like the Noodler's Nightshade.

I think I will get some when I order some Purple Wampum. Going through a bit of a purple faze at the moment.

Hi Stumpy,

Purples are pretty fabulous. I'm in a blue-green phase myself. I must be missing the Pacific Ocean. Please review the Purple Wampum when you get it. I'm thinking of adding that to my already over stuffed ink closet. cool.gif

Thanks,
Kate

Thank you! I've been going through my own blue-green phase and have been wondering how Noodler's Turquoise looks in a writing sample.

Thanks for the quick peak at some great inks, Kate. I'm a big fan of the Tahitian Pearl myself, it being my favorite blue-black ink.

Same inks after 10 minutes immersed in cold water.

Sorry, but I need to make room for new attachments.

Hi, sorry if this is unrelated but I just do not know where to post it.
Since you just bought some Noodler inks, can you be kind enough to tell me the dimensions of the average 3 oz Noodler ink bottle & box?

I am asking because I am intending to order some Noodler inks to be sent to a friend in the US (I do not live there), who will then package them with some other stuff I bought in one of those flat rate mailing boxes. None of the online shops or websites list the box / bottle dimensions, only the capacity, 3 oz. I need to know the size of each so I can decide how many I can order that will fit into the mailing box.

Thanks very much.

All the ones I have are 3.5 inches tall by ever so slightly over 1.5 inches square. Sorry I can't find my metric ruler to be totally exact.

The base of the box is 41 x 42 mm, height is 90 mm. Except around the cap, the box is a tight fit to the bottle, and the cardboard provides a little protection.
