I have a pen with a renew point that is cracked in two places. I don't know what to call the part that is cracked, but it's where the nib would be held. The nib is an 8xxx series and it looks like it might be fine if it were held properly in the unit. Can the nibs be switched within the renew point units?
Gerry
I usually call that part a collar... Yes, it is possible to replace them, but you do need a source of parts. Usually some can be obtained from less valuable or damaged nibs, and used as replacements.

You might find the discussion HERE or HERE or to be helpful WRT removing and replacing the collar.

If you don't have any nibs that would serve as donor nibs, I could have a look to see what's on my bench ... <_<

If you're not sure you want to undertake the repair, I could do it for you, or I would be willing to swap a MIB 1XXX or 2XXX nib unit for yours (providing the nib part of the assembly that you have is in good shape).

Regards,

Gerry

Thank you Gerry. I tried searching but must not have used the right words or selections. That's exactly what I hoped to find out. I don't have experience changing nibs, but I'd like to take a closer look when I have more time, probably after the holidays. About all I'm comfortable with is changing a sac though, and I don't want to try anything that might cause damage to a nib, so I might end up sending it to you after I experiment with a couple easy to find extras. The nib looks good, except the tines are slightly separated, so if this nib had an iridium tip, it might have another problem and is probably best left to an expert.
