I've decided to have a different colour ink for each day of the week.

Am I overdoing it?

Monday: Blue
Tuesday: Purple
Wednesday:Turquoise
Thursday: Orange
Friday: Green

Here is a picture of the Tuesday Thursday Friday colours

Nice! I like it. I hope you have different pens for each day, because I'd hate to have to the trouble of emptying and refilling the pens every day.

Not overdoing it at all! Unless you start changing the ink assigned to each day every week, then it would get confusing. laugh.gif
What about the weekend?

Heck, go for it. You're enjoying yourself I would imagine.

I'd say you're underdoing it biggrin.gif

Every day of the week should have at least ten possible colours attached to it, thus making getting out of the house on time in the morning a task of impossible complexity.

I used to have the same system for colored highlighters (I use them to cross things off my giant to-do list), starting as you do with blue Monday.

I think it is a fine idea with the right level of OCD for maximum enjoyment.

Do you have a different pen for each color, or will you be changing inks?

One could ofcourse buy a aluminium suitcase and bring his or her entire ink collection with him or her... wink.gif

If you feel comfortable with a different color each day, then do it. I know I would. But I agree with Sonia and I hope you have a different pen for every ink. biggrin.gif

Well if you only have one pen now, you could buy six of Kevin's $33 pens, one to match each remaining ink color!

Or how about seven Snorkels? (That sounds like one of the days of Christmas--seven Snorkels snorking.)
Velma
I'm only using four colors really regularly (right now: Noodler's Antietam, Noodler's Squeteague, Sheaffer Burgundy, and Omas Grey), but I used to keep about twelve pens inked with different colors, and cycle through them in my journal. My usual pattern was to have one color as the basic shade, and use that every other day, and then cycle through the others as mood struck me. These days, I use the first three colors on weekdays, and switch to the Omas Grey (which is in the Binderized Sheaffer 875 with the cursive italic nib) on weekends and holidays.

I plan on changing pens every other week or so only. I guess I should use 10 pens a month.

As for the weekend, I'll use the Shah's rose colour.

Thanks

Grey on weekends and holidays?! How peculiar! (But lovely and individual!)

I have not yet developed a routine, but I really appreciate yours, Velma!

I try to not have 2 pens with the same ink in them, and usually at least 10 pens inked. I sometimes have a favorite for a day (usually I'm just trying to empty the ink so I can add a new color), but it is usually whichever one I happen to grab, unless it needs to be a professional color.

I didn't realize that saguaro wine was so purple, I was thinking a lot more of a nice burgundy wine color.

Nope. Only one color a day? You need more ink!

And what if you need to write something very serious and formal? You clearly need seven pens loaded with different variants on blue-black in addition to your six or seven colors. (I do love Shah's Rose, nice choice.)

Nah, you're not overdoing it at all. Of course this approval comes from someone with a six pen, and ink, rotation. This means that the inks move through the weeks. IOW, I don't have a blue Monday, black Tuesday, etc. If, for example, this Tuesday is the black ink then next Monday will also be that black ink. I don't want to be locked into the days of the week having a specific color of ink assigned to them.

<td>Pen</td>
<td>Ink</td>

<tr>
<td>Waterman's Harley Davidson Kultur</td>
<td>4:1 = Polish no-name cartridge black ink : Noodler's Black ink mixture</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Stypen Ergo-Plume</td>
<td>5:1 = various cartridge blues : Noodler's Black ink mixture</td>

<tr>
<td>Shaeffer Imperial (inlaid nib model)</td>
<td>Noodler's Black</td>

</tr>
<tr>
<td>Genius Black Lacquer and Gold Plated pen</td>
<td>3:2 = Noodler's Purple : Noodler's Grizzly ink mixture</td>
</tr>
</table>

And of course here and there I just try a wild and crazy mixing experiment.

If you get a chance, scan that Purple Grizzly mixture, will you? That sounds cool.

Okay, I'll see if the balky scanner will work. No guarantees about calibration though.

Saguaro Wine is dark Magenta.

I do not recall ever seeing a wine that color but... it looks like the gemstones color, a dark pink from a small mine in Arkansas. I saw them on an episode of Cash and Tresures on the Travel Channel.
