Full Version: My newest pen

Hi all, I just wanted to share a picture of my new pen.

A guy named Gerry Rhodes made this for me, and I think he did an amazing job. I've been writing with a Meisterstruck, but since I got this in the mail it's the only pen I pick up these days. It's pretty heavy, and even though it can be posted, I usually do not post it due to the added weight on the back end.

It is hand crafted from bone (deer i think, not human) with a 14k medium nib. I'm using Noodlers Midnight Blue ink.

Hope y'all enjoy the pic.

BTW, this is my first time to try posting an image, I hope it works.

Wow, that's gorgeous! The details are in such harmony with the whole. Really nice.

Nice indeed. Have you seen any of Tom/Old Griz's work. He does amazing stuff as well. Ask to see his dragon pens....mmm.mm.mmm!

Gerry does very good work...
One thing I would recommend, however, is to be careful of extremes of temperature and humidity with any pen made from bone, ivory, etc.
Even with the good finish that Gerry applies to his pens those materials can develop cracks or splits from temp and humidity extremes. I have had it happen to some I have done.
