I have now a second bottle of red, purchased at least 6 months after my first bottle. I reported (and photographed) that the ink had a strong magenta component, and posted a recipe to make it more red.
My latest bottle however doesn't look at all magenta. It's a really nice middle of the line red. Nathan did say that he tweaks his inks, and in this case I feel it's an improvement.

The sample I got recently from Pear Tree Pens had a reddish orange cast, more like what I'd imagine as a fox red.

That's where I got mine too. Reddish orange it was.
Since I am utterly incapable of letting well enough alone, I mixed it very lightly with Noodlers black, about 12:1. It turned out just a bit darker (no surprise there), and toned down just a bit.
