-- Cross Deco combines cool sophistication with elegance and high style --
LINCOLN, R.I., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A.T. Cross Company
(Amex: ATX - news) announced the introduction of Cross Deco, a special
edition pen inspired by the Art Deco movement of the 1920's and 1930's. This
highly styled elegant pen is a tribute to the period as well as to the designs
and technology that were innovated by A.T. Cross Company during that fertile
time in art history.
The Art Deco period was characterized by streamlined forms, geometric
shapes, and cool sophistication. The period celebrated the rise of commerce,
technology and speed, and combined modern decorative art with Cubism,
Constructivism, and Futurism. The Cross Deco pen continues this rich design
heritage. Its exquisite, etched pattern and stunning platinum plate has the
sparkle of hand-engraved jewelry. The fountain pen nib is crafted from solid
18-karat gold and decorated with a pattern reminiscent of refined Art Deco
designs, and then plated with rhodium. No detail has been overlooked in the
creation of this beautiful writing instrument.
"The Cross Deco pen combines the more robust, wider-diameter, Century II
shape with the patterns one finds in Art Deco collectibles," said Bruce
Willox, Director of Global Communications, America's Marketing, at A.T. Cross.
He continued, "Many Cross pens that were designed during the Art Deco period
have found their way into some of the finest private pen collections in the
world. This special edition pen reflects the history of our company, and
promises to be prized by lovers of Art Deco, pen collectors and pen
aficionados worldwide."
The Special Edition Cross Deco is available as fountain pen only, ball-
point pen only, or set of fountain pen and ball-point pen. The fountain pen
is available in four nib sizes and includes six ink cartridges and a
converter. All Cross Deco pens are packaged in a leatherette gift box. The
SMRP for the fountain pen is $225.00, ball-point pen is $150.00, and the set
is $350.00. This special edition design is available at the stores throughout
Europe and Asia. It will be available in the U.S. in 2005.
