Just won this on Ebay. Never used Grey Esterbrook, with instructions, box and 2556 Nib.

Got caught up in the bidding, so probably spent more on it than I should.

I don't know what you paid, but in my experience, you'll never regret having paid too much for a pen you like and enjoy, but you'll always regret not having spent enough and missed out.

Congrats, looks nice!

That's a nice one - I was watching it on eBay and almost bid, but it got too rich for my blood. smile.gif

A wise man, that Brian. I can think of four costs that I don't remember and don't care:

1. How much I paid to see my first game at Yankee Stadium;

2. How much I spent on my first date with my wife;

3. The amount of the hospital bills when my sons were born;

4. How much I paid for any of my pens.

Of course, that may not mean much as I usually can't remember where I put my car keys or what I had for breakfast, either. My point -- actually Brian's point first -- is that, in six months, you probably won't care what you paid for it.

Congratulations! I was watching that, but I have a very similar gray that I use daily and didn't need it. I am glad to see such a fine pen go to a good home.

Congratulations!

I agree w/ Brian, et. al, that you won't have any lasting regrets --- NOS vintage Esterbrook pens in boxes are dwindling in numbers, and the price I think is only going to go up.

That said, I'm planning on inking my own NOS LJ as soon as my SJ runs dry.

I received the pen today and it is beautiful. The ONLY thing that I don't like about it, is that it is an SJ. I guess I didn't read the description close enough, as it did state 4 3/4 inches.

The SJ size is just a tab smaller than I like. Oh well, that is certainly not going to stop me from using it.
