I know there has been some discussion about De Atramentis Inks. I have a friend going to Europe on business and he said he would bring some home, but he can't bring much and does not know yet what the restrictions will be. So I am not offering his service for buying any.

HOWEVER, I have contacted the company about the possibility of making a larger order for our membership. The stated shipping is 32Euros to the US. I have asked if that is for even a large order. I have also asked if we might be able to get a discount on a larger order of ink. You don't know until you ask.
This ink is not the least expensive I have used, but they have some really interesting inks you are not going to find anywhere else. I have two bottle that I got from Winedoc and I really do like the ink.
On average the standard color inks are running 8.50 Euro (about $11.00) and the specialty inks 9.80 Euro (about $12.50). But remember the specialty inks include scented inks, wine inks, beer inks, etal.... I mean can you just imagine an ink that smells like the inside of a new car (Dream Car Ink), or maybe one that smells like grass (Golf Ink), or my favorite one that smells like coffee. And the colors are matched to the smalls.
I am not looking to make any money on this... just want to know if enough people are interested, IF I get a positive response from the company.
Take a look at the link to the translated page I posted above.

Count me in! I zzzzz reallyzzzz need the coffee inkzzzz to stay awake on a slow day like todayzzz. Would also be interested in chocolate.
Rob R
Old Grizz,

Yes, I would be interested. My inquiry into getting it from a German website referenced here lead to a $16 US (converted at the time). This was minus VAT and included shipping. I would really be interested in something less than this. I would be interested in tannergrun.

Thanks

Rob R

A lot of very nice-looking colors there. I wonder if they'd give me a discount for ordering all of them? cool.gif

I'd be interested in a bottle or two for sure.

How could I not get beer ink, given the opportunity? It would be WRONG.

Count me in on this one.

Hi there! I believe that the Canadian site Laywines is going to carry this brand of ink. They have a listing for it on their website and I emailed Peter Laywine about it a week ago (I was looking for some of their purples). They are expecting a shipment in, but I don't have the exact date. I simply asked for him to inform me when they go to his shores.
Also, I'm uncertain of the price difference/comparison direct from Germany or from Canada. It could be easier and cheaper from Germany but I haven't done the math so to say. Anyhoo, just wanted to add that as another possible avenue, but I hope I didn't make it more confusing smile.gif unsure.gif

At some point, I likely couldn't resist a bottle or two rolleyes.gif --if all of the colors are available.

I need me some of that wine ink. Count me in for one.

I am interested as well. I have one bottle of ink I got from winedoc also and I love the color... and the bottle.
southpaw
Anyone know where you can see color samples?
TIA, southpaw (who's kinda hoping there aren't any, so I won't buy any, because I don't need any)
umenohana
I would love to try their wine inks! Too bad I know nothing about wine, though-- I wouldn't know which one to get. I guess I'd just go by the color.

I'd also like to try Chocolate, Green Tea... oh, and their beer inks! I also know nothing about beer, but it's so different that I must try!

Here are some links to info on De Atramentis inks. Pretty interesting, eh?

Whatever happened to this idea?

If this gets revived, I would buy at least two bottles, and very likely more.

Hi,

I just received my first order of De Atramentis inks (see this tread: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=25368)

and I'm still busy composing a review, which I will post later this weekend.

I already know I'm going to order more inks in the (near) future! I really liked the inks I received.

I just want to say that when my help is needed, please let me know! I speak German.

I just blew half an hour on this amazingly cool site. If this ever happens count me in for at least three bottles: Wine, Chocolate, and Coffee.

I'm tempted by the 'World of Horses' ink as well with its 'smell of horses and grass.' Could be good, or very, very nasty.

Did anyone else see the Kafka entry under scented inks and think cockroach ink?

I'm in. smile.gif

There's a good chance I'll have to represent my office at a conference in Potsdam, Germany (near Berlin) from 22-24 April. I already wrote to a pen store in Berlin to ask whether they sell De Atramentis. If they do, I will most likely go there to buy some ink and spend the rest of my money laugh.gif

It is allowed to bring a maximum of 20 kilograms (44 lbs) of luggage from Berlin to my country, so I suppose - when the above mentioned preconditions will be met - I might be able to bring ink for at least some of you and send it along. This would save US or Australian citizens at least 63% in shipping costs.

I'll keep you updated.
Shannon
Seriously? Beer ink? I might be able to convert my husband to a FP after all!
DilettanteG
Thanks AnneM, that's an incredibly generous offer!

I adore the Mont Blanc Seasons Greetings Brown.

I just bought a bottle of the PR Chocolat and think I will like it when I get the right pen for it. It was hard to start in my Pel 800 with the double broad nib but feathered all over the place in my Waterman 52 with the wet noodle flex nib.

I like the slight scent to the Mont Blanc ink and went on a quest to find more scented inks that don't smell like lilacs or roses.

Then I was put in contact with Rolf Thiel at www.missing-pen.de his email is info@missing-pen.de. He hooked me up with the following inks:

De Atramentis Inks:
Chocolate scent/Brown Ink
Coffee scent/Brown Ink
Vanilia scent/Brown-Black Ink

They were about $9.55 a bottle.

They smell great. I just loaded my Burgundy 51 with the Brown-Black and it writes beautifully. I need to clean out my Pel Grand Place and try another!

The vanilia is mild, the Coffee reminds me of a double shot expresso (Dark roast) and the chocloate smells like the old time tin of Hershey's chocolate we use to make home made fudge with.

Mmm, chocolate and vanilla and coffee! drool.gif Those are some of the scented ones I definitely want to try! Would love to see photos/scans if you have any smile.gif

I was googling Atramentis Ink and it brought me to this old post. I'm curious how this all worked out.
Did everyone get lots of ink?

I'd be interested in knowing, too. Is there any chance for another group order? Or is there a source in U.S. or Canada?

Tricia
You might want to do a search. I know someone posted an email address to order these inks after I expressed, uh, shock at the shipping charges on the web site. ($125.00 to the US! yikes.gif )

I own a bottle of De Atramentis 'Frederic Chopin', a wonderful dark green with a brownish tint to it, but did not see this color (or any 'named series') on the links some have provided. Does anyone know why it does not come up on these sites?
Jerry
Yep.

They look even nicer than Herbin inks...wow!

I have been looking to get some of these. count me in. And thanks for having the ideal.

Ummm, if I recall correctly, in the end the group order did not take place. However, if you do want to order some of these inks, you can contact Laywines in Toronto (Canada), or order them from Rolf Thiel at Missing-Pen. Rolf is in Germany, but he does speak English and while I have yet to order any inks from him (soon, I keep telling myself!), he was very helpful through e-mails and his shipping prices were quite reasonable.
