Dear all,

I have a Parker 61 and I don’t like the capillary filling system blink.gif . I’ve tried to pull it out from the nib section and it didn't want to come out  . Does it suppose to come out and would it come out if I pull on it harder? I want to replace it with a squeeze converter or use a cartridge in its place instead so I can flush the pen biggrin.gif . Thank you in advance for your input.

I don't think capillary filler is supposed to come out. You might be better off selling the 61 you have and buy the later production converter filler 61 or get a "51", if you like hooded nib Parker.

Capillary-filling 61s can be converted to cartridge/converter filling, but it's not a simple process. You cannot simply remove the capillary cell and plug in a cartridge. The task involves modification of several parts and replacement of the threaded metal connector.

You can flush the pen by purchasing a rubber-bulb ear syringe at a drugstore. Cut off the nose of the syringe so that the remaining part fits snugly around the capillary cell. Flush away!

Thank you all for your suggestions. I didn't know that the later 61s have squeeze fillers - I thought all 61s are all capillaries tongue.gif .

You might be better off trading. The capilary fillers also have an internal cap that seals the filler when you screw the barrel back on.....it would be a waste to convert it in my opinion.
