IMHO it should have been marketed as a nib-flushing device rather than an inkwell.

Sure, why not? When I was in college, I used to pass a house that had just the bowl out in the front yard with flowers in it.

Brown ink would be appropriate (or Yellow ink?)

Does the ink swirl clockwise or counter-clockwise in that inkwell when it is "down under?"
