Here's a sheet of red inks, scanned and color corrected. The writing is done with a offset copperplate dip nib, rinsed and dried between different inks. The large strokes are done with a Q-tip.
The paper is Advantage brand ink jet paper 24 pound weight and 94 brightness.
The Rotring Red is from a cartridge.
The Sheaffer Skrip NOS Burgundy obviously isn't red, but I thought it might be useful to compare to the Swishmix Burgundy.
Enjoy /:)

Here's the same sample sheet after 10 minutes in cold water.
The black ink at the top is Noodler's Polar Black.

That's cool. You have wonderful dip pen handwriting too.

Thanks Maja.
I actually was planning to put my Rotring Art Pen set up on the block since I bought the round tip rather than the italic nibs by mistake. Then I popped the Rotring Ink cartridges in and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and comfortably they wrote. I liked the ink colors as well; the Rotring red has a brownish cast to it that I quite liked. The Rotring black was the truest most opaque black, a shock for a Noodler's fanatic like me, until it hit the water. Then it ran like there was someone chasing it.

My pleasure, I'm learning a lot about inks I thought I knew just from using the same nib on each of them. Differences in feathering, viscosity, effective hairlines, and of course, shading really become obvious when the same nib and paper are used for each.
Plus, it's interesting to see what these inks do on such cheap paper.

Quite interesting. Rotring is a winner and Quink is solid. Some of the other colors are a bit surprising, assuming my monitor is setup OK - Skrip burgundy looks very purple on my monitor. Hellbender and Devil Red are neither the mid spectrum red I've been looking for but are interesting colors.
I've found red inks to be the most frustrating color, where it seems like the old standby's Quink, Skrip and Waterman may have it about right. But the variation seems to be a lot wider with red inks that have pink, orange, yellow and purple overtones.
Thanks for posting!
