Every couple of months I check into Stylophiles Online to see what's new out there in the fountain pen world, and to check out Bill Riepl's incredible photography. The latest issue has a feature on a two Limited Edition pens coming from Pelikan. Has anyone else seen this article? Whadd ya think of these two pens?

I must admit, I really like 'em! They're very different from most of the other Pelikan LE's that have been made. Note, too, that these pens are the same size as the m800's, not the m600's as were the Cities series.

And they're slated to be priced at a pretty reasonable $2500 USD. I'll have to pick up a couple when they come out....yeah, right! lticaptd.gif

Very beautiful pens. But for that money I think I'd buy (yeah, right!) a Yukari Nightline (which the lower pen reminds me of.)

I guess that "pretty reasonable" is a relative term

Did you eventually buy one or both of these pens?

Visiting the Von Humboldt-museum in Leiden (this was before Montblanc produced the Von Humboldt) I happened to pass a shop that had some fascinating fountain pens in the window and even more in a seperate case inside the shop.
Of course the lighting was optimal, but these Pelikan Gekko and Kyokko pens really stood out, even in comparison with other special pens that belong to the private collection of the owner.

However beautiful they were, in retrospect I think they were too highly priced at app. Euro 5000 the pair.

What? You mean Pelikan can be more expensive then Montblanc? : )

A MB Greta Garbo limited commemorative oversize edition with sterling silver, laquer inlays, 16 diamonds, an Akoya pearl, and the snowflake logo hammered out of flattened mother of pearl, can be bought for less than the Pelikan Kyokko/Gekko ... I like these Pelikans, but for the money I'd rather have the laquer, pearl and diamond Greta!

Wow, those are nice. I like to top one. Kinda pricey though, but maybe, if they make enough, the street price may be more reasonable.

Good reason to visit leiden.
They are good looking pens, however, for that kind of money there are lots of other LE pelikans that are also very good looking.
