My wife's 51's nib was misaligned and skipping alot. Taking the advice of several here, I got a loupe and took a good look at this pen's nib. The tines were misaligned. Couldn't tell without the magnification. Taking my time I was finally able to realign the tines and it is now a good writing pen. She's a happy camper now which is good for me because she intercepted my VISA bill which shows that I bought two more pens off of ebay in the UK. Thanks, guys, for the advice. It'll make life around here alittle easier for me. Oh, until I got a good look at this nib I thought it was steel but now I know it's gold.

Well done Mike,

Once you get too it, fixing "51" nibs is not too bad. From my limited experience, the first thing I now look at if a "51" is not smooth is the alignment of the nib. It has surprised me just how robust they are and how much flexing they can take.

Once you get them back into shape, they just write wonderfully.

And you got yourself off the hook with 'Herself' that has got to be a double Whammy lticaptd.gif lticaptd.gif lticaptd.gif

Why don't you buy another pen whilst the going is good? roflmho.gif roflmho.gif

My wife tried her pen last night and she was very surprised at how good it wrote. Boy, did I make points! Maybe she'll buy me a new pen to show her appreciation.
