I did some reading about Tip-Dip Craftsman on the PenHero site and I am quoting the following:

Sheaffer Craftsman Pastel Green Disassembled
These new Touchdown pens have a small ink sac inside a plastic protector that fills using pneumatic air pressure in the downstroke of the plunger to compress the sac and fill the pen. The Touchdown system was first used on 1949 and has been used on several Sheaffer models to the present.

My pen has a metal sac protector and not a plastic one. Is this of any significance? Is it perhaps not a Craftsman? It has the exposed nib, marked M1, the light rings in the cap, and looks like the ones in the picture on PenHero.
The BP has one of those fat aluminum refills. May I presume that this is one of the pens I can use the "widget" on with a modern Sheaffer BP refill?
The pushbotton mechanism on the BP seems to be the major ink gunk up area. At first, the button wouldn't budge. It is now moving, but not too smoothly. Plenty of ink left to clean!
Finally, does anyone have guidance to offer on getting the BP ink stain off of the pen threads? Other than the threads, it is cleaning up nicely. I've scrubbed, used InkNix, and ultrasound. Any other suggestions?
