I've been on a quest for the perfect moss or olive green, something with a bit of depth and shading, not too light and not too dark, etc. I've written several snails or partial snails with this mix and so far I'm liking it. It looks especially good next to other colors, esp. blue-black and burgundy.
Here's a scan:

This is a close-up that I think shows the color reasonably well.
Almost forgot the components--approximately 1:2 Noodler's Golden Brown and Levenger's Always Greener.
Edited the proportions on 9/15--mixing a bit more of this, you want a good bit more of the Always Greener for the best color.

For some reason I really like that ink name...Golden Greener. And the mix is nice, too! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Nice one, Sonya! And I've got just the pen for it. Next time it's empty it'll get Golden Greener. Thanks!

The combination of Golden Greener and Nightshade reminds me of "yaki imo".. The quintessential symbol of autumn in Japan.
Edit: added drool face.

I love it, Umenohana! That's perfect with Sonia-Simone's Golden Greener.
Thanks for sharing the recipe, Sonia-Simone. That's a lovely mix, and a lovely combo with Nightshade.

Hana, I think of you and your lovely flex review of Army Green when I write with this ink! It does strike me as very Japanese color and a very Japanese combination.
It is also very pretty with a dark blue-black.

Sonia - Off topic. What pen stores do you go to in Denver? I go to Guirey's and Paradise Pen. Do you know of others?

Simply gorgeous - te gusto mucho! It reminds me a little of R & K Alt Goldgruen which is my favorite 'green' ink next to Stipula's Moss Green. It's a lovely mix though. I'm sure it will look great on ivory paper, too!

Hi Bob! Best pen store in Denver is, IMO, Meininger's Art on Broadway. But they're not wonderful either--it depends on who is there. They used to have a woman who really knew pens, but I haven't seen her there in awhile and I wonder if she quit. Mostly I buy online--pens I seem to buy exclusively from the FPN marketplace lately, and for ink & accessories I like peartreepens.com and pendemonium.com.
Guiry's like the paint store? Or a different one? I don't know them, so maybe I've been missing out.
I find Paradise Pen just annoying. I've never talked with anyone there (at the Cherry Creek one, maybe there's another in town) who knew a damned thing about pens. They do sell a small selection of Noodler's, though, so once in awhile I pick up a bottle there.

Sonia,
I have yet to try Meiningers, thought it more of an art store. Didn't realize they sold pens as well.
Guiry's is a paint/wallpaper store, located on S. Colorado Blvd, just south of I-25, but they have a very nice selection of Pens, inks, etc. They also do Pen Shows a few times a year where they get all the major companies there, raffles, huge discounts etc... Lee the lady in charge of the pen area is very knowledgeable, and great to talk to.
I have the same feeling about Paradise Pen. I have yet to find someone there who knows anything about pens. I buy some ink there, and get my free copies of Pen World and Stylus magazine.
I LOVE the color you created. I think it would look great in my Honey Tortoise Pelikan.

It is in fact the second most perfect color for the White Tortoise pel, which I think is the same but with a white cap instead of gold, yes? (The most perfect color is Golden Brown, in my entirely arbitrary opinion.) Golden Greener is pretty much the color of the lightest green stripes on the barrel.
I will check out Guiry's, I had no idea! Great to know!

Here's another scan of a different ink mix with Golden Brown, this one is about 2:1 with Navajo Turquoise. I had originally discounted it as not being what I wanted, because it was too dark with a dip pen, but once I inked an FP with it I decided I like it a lot. It doesn't feather nearly as much, and it's a darker color than Golden Greener. A bit less shading than GG. If Stipula's Moss Green wasn't actually moss brown, it might be this color.
So far I'm finding this a really nice daily writing ink--rich color and well behaved.
I need a name, though--"Golden Navajo" sounds like a skin tone.

Here's a close-up. The color is about right, but the scan is sort of crummy, sorry about that.

Both are nice colors. I'm thinking about trying Noodlers Eternal Brown and Always Greener to acheive a mossy color with waterproof characteristics. I don't think I'll be able to post a scan or decent photo, but if somebody else tries it as well, everyone will know if it is a keeper or not.

I need to get out a spritzer bottle--both LAG and NGB have some water resistance, it would be interesting to see if any of that is retained.

I really do like this color a lot. Its gold color makes me miss my gold-filled Swan.. ;-; Just a little while longer till it (it feels so wrong calling my pen just "it") gets back! Patience, Hana!

Hello Sonia,
Is this the type of green you were referring to when you asked me if I could add a mossy green to my line-up?
Best wishes,
Sean

It is, esp. the slightly darker one, which is a bit more practical for letter writing.
