Currently I have not one, but two vacs gone AWOL in the mail system. Of course, the vac block and diaphragms made it just fine and are now sitting lonely on my desk...

While they still might turn up, I think from now on I'm going to make sure all my pens are insured!

Hello Libertas,

This little story may give you some hope and comfort.

Earlier this year I bought a very nice, boxed Conway Stewart on e-bay.
I sent the money and the pen was dispatched, 3 weeks later no pen; sad.gif the seller refunded my money.

I found another pen, not as good but nearly as expensive as the first so the refund money came in handy and off it went to pay for the second pen. smile.gif

The following morning the first pen arrived and I had to return the money that had been refunded but had already spent again and screw up my pen budget for the week. The British post office had managed to take three weeks to bring a properly addressed and stamped package less than 100 miles. wallbash.gif

In my experience USPS are just as good at their job as their UK counterparts; so if your pens are overdue don't give up all hope.

Best of luck, John

I couldn't believe it when I saw this topic. I just recently had a Parker Vac. go AWOL whilst sending it for refurb. I insured it, but it's still a pain to go file a claim, prove the value (how do you do that, exactly, with a vintage pen?) and, eventually, collect. Add to that trying to find a replacement pen and it equals a frustrating experience.

Anyway, I hope yours eventually turns up......... and mine as well.

Cheers, Dean

Sorry for your problems. I KNOW it is frustrating. It's a pain and expensive but I always have my pens shipped with two day service. I had lost a pen (less than 100 USD) and just inthe future it's worth the 15 USD. Good luck and hope the other returns.

For what it's worth, I shipped my package 2-day Priority USPS, with insurance. The only thing I did not purchase, but will next time (if there is a next time) was package tracking and delivery confirmation..... wish I had.

I recently had two pens take a long detour on their way to their destination via the USPS. I sent them Priority mail, and they took almost two weeks to surface, when they should have taken three days. I'm happy to say that they did both finally show up, but it didn't make me feel good about my local post office, where I dropped the packages off after paying for postage online.

Hope your pen surfaces soon!

Best,

Debbie

I have been mailing pens with the US Post office for five years, always with insurance and they have never lost a single pen. I've paid hundreds of dollars in insurance and I don't mind that one bit.

Thankfully one has arrived....one down one to go! They really are a beautiful pen.
