The Legend
There are a lot more colours on the market than before.

Another poll asked what's the best ink for your FP.
I assume this was about overall quality.

This poll asks who is the best 'colour-maker' in your opinion.

Unfortunately I have found that my preferences for particular colors seems to span across many manufacturers so I've a Visconti blue, a MB blue black and Noodler's green.

All that being said I find that I have more Noodler's inks than any other manufacturer. Maybe I like the different color inks from the normal. Whereas a pen manufacturer is probably more interested in selling ink it seems that Nathan is always ready to push the color boundaries.

I have a few Diamines and a few R&Ks and I do like them very much, but Noodler's takes it overall for me. So many of my favorite colors are Noodler's.

Can't choose one - different manufacturers have different emphases. (Some more pastel oriented, some go for bright colours, etc.)

Hi,

I am very fond of Pelikan Violet, Aurora Blue and Aurora Black, but when it comes to colors Noodler's is unbeatable. Their inks have a consistent overall quality.

Since you said "colors" and not "inks", I had to choose Diamine. To my eye they make some wonderful colors. It would be nice if they had a line of waterproof inks like Noodlers.

I cast my vote for Noodlers. Easily the largest and most interesting selection.

Hands down Noodler's has the best colour selection.

my first choice is j.herbin cos thats my favourite ink maker....they seem to have soft, lovely colours everytime i look at the ink charts, and they do have the colours that i would wanna use for all eternity tongue.gif ....but everytime i see the diamine colour charts online...i knowwww the scans etc are prolly inaccurate and all that, but i do adore the intensity of the colours. the colour selection is decent, but still...the colours all look as IF theyre not washed out....so i voted for diamine....and the funny thing is...i dun even have a diamine ink...yet tongue.gif

(i am, however, wishing someone rich from england would send me box full of diamine ink with violets and greens and blues in it...but that would mean i wil have to keep wishing, for all eternity tongue.gif)

Too many alligaters here on Lake Jessup to have any fun Noodling. So I'll just have my fun with the Noodler's Ink. biggrin.gif

Absolutely couldn't vote in this poll. With my favorites, colorwise, in 11 color categories, several manufacturers came out with 2 votes and the rest with one vote. I'm really glad we have all the brand choices that we do!

Best, Ann

Interesting to see that Herbin does not cast many votes (1), while they do have a wide range...

What's wrong with Herbin in comparison with Noodler's or Private Reserve?

There's nothing wrong with Herbin, but it appears those responding to this poll enjoy intense colours. Many of the Herbin offerings are less saturated/intense than Noodlers or PR.

My one experience with Herbin was with Ivy Green. Very poor flow.

For me the Herbin colors are nice looking, but...

I tried the Coffee brown and the very vivid Cyclamen Rose, but alas they faded pretty fast in my own unscientific Florida sun fade tests.

All of my Noodler's inks did very well. To keep in perspective I've found most other inks by most manufacturers fade fast as well (of the ones I tested).

If there's room to jump on the Noodler's band wagon, I have to say I love their Beaver and Squeteague. Plus, Noodler's offers so much more than just great color: Water Proof inks, lubricating inks, a freeze resistant ink, neutral pH, archival quality... I could go on and on, but you all know the drill.

In defense of J. Herbin I do love the Poussiere de Lune, but if I'm going to go to all the trouble and expense of using a fountain pen I want more than just great color. I can get that in gel pens and even art markers and pencils!

The majority of my small collection of ink are Diamine so I voted for them.

I had to vote PR. I love their colour range and all of the colours are really vibrant and I also use them most smile.gif

Nightshade, Ottoman Azure, a bunch of greens and browns, non-fading, some totally waterproof, colors professionally conservative and colors interestingly weird, that's good color plus.

Did I mention that I voted Noodler's?
