Let us know how many Waterman's you own.
Onion
I have 13 Waterman fountain pens, two Expert II ballpoints an Expert II pencil and a Phileas rollerball. So that's what, 17 total. Yep I do love Watermans.
ht1
I have 6 fountain pens and 3 ballpoints.
Johnny Appleseed
Should I only count complete pens?

2 Waterman 12
1 Waterman 13
1 Waterman 14, no cap
2 Waterman 12s, no caps

1 Waterman 12, PSF
1 Waterman 14V PSF
2 Waterman 52s with gold bands and cracked caps (still work though!)
1 Waterman 52V, up for sale shortly.
1 Waterman Commando, up for sale as soon as I do some nib alignment
1 Waterman 52 1/2V with replacement nib

Then there is "The box" with, a Waterman 52 double-imprint, no nib or lever-box; Waterman 54 barrel section and feed; Waterman 13 barrel, section and feed; Waterman 52 1/2 parts; Waterman 52 1/2V cap and barrel, Waterman 12 barrel section and feed, a couple of stray feeds, one 52 section and feed, a couple of cracked caps, 32V without lever, and 32V without cap, and probably some other bits and pieces I have forgotten about.

I only have one Waterman, a nice chrome one. I think I heard one of the board members call it a Flighter? I like it - it's nice and moist/wettish.
mike1
Have only two Phileases. One has a fine nib while the other has a broad. I like the fine better. The broad nib is my wife's. I'm looking for something vintage.
southpaw
Just 3 here: a 52 Red Ripple with a wet noodle, one I'm not sure on the name that's got a nice flex nib, and a Taperite Commando (not sure on the name) awaiting restoration efforts.
sonia_simone
Just a Gentleman and a Phileas for me. Nice to see the new forum, though!
gregamckinney
Well, pre-1940 Wateman is my main focus of collecting, so a high percentage of my collection is Waterman- just shy of 200 Waterman instruments, counting pencils and pens.
Best regards, greg

I think we may have found our pre '40's expert..... 200.... dang!

Can you post some of your favorites with pictures?

Hey there Onion!
No expert here, just someone who has acquired many pens and some knowledge over the years. Even with one maker, the amount of data- both common and arcane- to find and assimilate for 50 years of manufacturing is beyond my capacity.

It sure is fun to keep reading and chatting to learn more though!

Best, greg

Well,
I've just started liking the old Watermans, so thanks for starting this. I have one 52 1/2, who won't suck up ink, but on the way I have a 52, a 54, and a 12. Such colorful names they gave those pens, like poetry almost.

Oh 52, you write so true,

But I yearned for more, then came a 54,

That 52 and a half,

Just makes me laugh,

After the 12,

I shall not Delve.

(And now this poem I think I'll shelve)

Off to sleep,

Ringtop

Gentleman, a Laureat, one Phileas and two Expert II, plus two or three ballpoints...
The FP are great writers, being that the Gentleman if probably one of the best of my humble collection...

As usual I'm late to the party. There's a Waterman forum!

I'm also late coming around to Waterman's fountain pens.

8 Waterman's pens here. All vintage.

A Silver streaked Ideal military clip (chrome) with a semiflex XF nib. My favorite pen !
A similar model that's deep blue streaked with Gold trim that's the prettiest pen in my collection.
2 more similar Ideals that are going to need some TLC
An older Canadian brown steaked, with the old wimpy clips. It's got my favorite flexy nib.
A Black Junior I need to sac.
A Stars and Stripes Taperite that somebody else will have to sac.
A unknown Waterman coming in from eBay.

My silver streaked one is my best combo pen. It's great for writing, jotting and drawing /:) . Pretty close to perfect for me.
Oxonian
Right here we go:

7 C/F's, Sterling silver/white gold trimmed, guilloche, a heavy gold plated guilloche, a black,a burgundy, and a blue with brushed caps, a black with a gold filled cap and clip, and a turquoise one with a white section that showed up from somewhere that I don't like.

2 W3's, one blue/black/silver longitudinally striped with a No.3 Broad, the other a Maroon with a Medium.

2 W5's, one dark blue the other black,

2 515's, one maroon, the other black and the pencil to go with it

2 503's, one a shorthand pen with the red cap end but a gem of a flexible No.2 nib, the other maroon with a stiffer nib.

52 BCHR

32 From Canada in green/grey/with red veins and someone's attempt at an italic regrind and a Thoroughbred with an even worse attempt, these both came from the same place.

A flat top BHR from the 30's no idea what to call it

Then theres the Torsade and 5 other 1950's and 60's open 18ct nib pens with bright steel caps and g/p clips and a heagonal black semi hooded nibbed pen.

I have no idea what they are but they write well now that I have remade the funny flappy side lever fillers/converters. These are amongst my favourite pens for drawing with.

You might have guessed I like Watermans. biggrin.gif

Cheers, John

Sorry folks, to post twice in sucession but I just realised that I forgot the 2 Taperites which I WILL get someone else to resac and sell on and I'm sure there are a couple more W2's somewhere that I must have a look for.

I've already answererd the poll, and I've even listed my Watermans, at least the ones I could remember. Well, the number changed today. I put in a bid for this pen on the 'Bay a couple of weeks ago, and the stars aligned: I won the auction. The pen came today -- in a padded envelope! -- from the U.K., and I restored it as quickly as I could. I'm lovin' the spectacular ripple!

The interesting thing about this pen, besides its being a rippled Waterman, is that it's a No. 51V, the smallest -- and skinniest -- Waterman self filler not to carry the 1/2V designation. To give you an idea of just how small this pen really is, here it is in scale with a No. 01852 and a No. 7.

Waterfan
just two (well, ONE at the present moment) - an Expert II that i got yesterday and a Phileas that's en route from Swisher.

man, you people collect pens like i used to collect vacuum tubes....

A Taperite, a 52 in que for repair, a cartridge filler and another, shown below with the Taperite...

TMann
I guess that I marked the survey wrong. If you count non-fountain pens, I actually have 5 Watermans, not 3.

They are:

1 Phileas FP, all-black with a medium nib which I ground to a broad italic
1 Expert II FP, blue marble, which was ground to a fine italic by the folks at Pendemonium
1 Hemisphere FP, red marble, which was just purchased from another FPNer.

Plus,

2 Phileas RBs, one black, one blue marble.

TMann
Lillight
2 Audace (Enchanted Garden M, ethnic chic F)
1 Anastasia (Fine)
1 Hemisphere (silver, M)

Actually these are all the fountain pens I have so far.

Lillight, welcome to FPN and the Waterman forum....

I had a Phileas for all of six days. Then, it was wrenched from me by a beautiful girl...alright, fine, I confess, I was too glad to hand it off.

I gave it to my girlfriend because she mentioned that she liked the color of the Ottoman Rose that I used in it. Another convert! <cue evil laugh>

I currently own 5, but am looking to buy more. Does anyone know of a good place online to purchase vintage watermans?
Blacksheep95
I have 1......a Phileas, purchased and recieved last week. biggrin.gif
Doug Add
Five currently, all modern.

Two Phileas fountain pens, a fine and a medium nib
Two Phileas roller balls, a blue and a green
One Carene roller ball, amber shimmer

I used to own a 16, a 52, a Taperite, a Liaison, and maybe some others I have forgotten, certainly several other Phileas fps that have gone on to others for their writing pleasure, oh and a Laureat that only stayed a day or so.

I really do want to get a nice red ripple one of these days.
RobS
I have a blue Gentleman (NOS) on the way.. my first Waterman..

I'm basically a relative newbie, but I think the bug has now taken hold.. Based on my experience with other interests that drew me in completely, I'm afraid this may be serious! I've been spending so much time soaking-up all of the FP-related info I can access and have taken to drooling over cool FP's, both Vintage and new!

I've had some cheapie Parkers and Schaeffers in my youth, also an Esterbrook lever model that vanished in the past. I did enjoy using them all, and the fascination really never left me. I currently have a MB 144 (had it since the mid-80's) but for some reason I never used it all that much. <_<

After reading the comments of praise for the Gentleman on the forum, I'm -really- excited with anticipation of it's arrival! Got to order some inks so I'll be ready! drool.gif
