I have just one Waterman ... a Black and Silver Hemisphere.
But I'm looking at getting a green/silver Expert Dune.
I just need to find someone that has one in stock so I can see how the size compares to what I have.

Five 55's, ten 54's, twelve 52's, ten 52 1/2's, seven Juniors, some Canadian, some US, some UK, some ringtop, some clipcap, some swirl, some not... two commandos, couple of 12's, some gold overlay 52's, some silver filigree 52's and 54's, some boxed, assorted demonstrators, jifs, patricians (wait, that's a ballpoint), several Exceptions (night and day, platinum, slim, etc) two experts and a Charleston I don't really want. Also, a big handful of what I take to be 1930-1950 era Waterman's with pretty finishes, but I don't know the model numbers of anything post-1925... rolleyes.gif
Scriptus
I got a Carene "tobacco", it'a really a great pen but, i'm very surprise, in all the pens in that post, nobody own a "Concorde", it's a '70 pen with one of the better nib i've tested..

I'm going to take some ebonite pics over the next few days when I get my light cube unpacked.

My bad on the blue ripple, it's a 52V, pic here. Red ripple pic here, BCHR pic here.

I'll get them all together soon and update this thread with a link.

I have a blue metalic finish Hemisphere (a matching roller ball as far as that goes) a blue Laureat, and a BCHR 52. I love the 52--the length is great and nib is semiflex and wonderful. For general writing the 52 is a dream.

Phroneo

All of mine are modern - er, post 1960 - (which brings a question to my mind as to the differentiation between modern and vintage - is it by date or by particular model for a specific manufacturer?)

Anyway, off the top of my head I have a:

medium and fine nib Carene Deluxe in Prussian Blue with matching roller ball and ball point pens,
a broad and fine nib Carene Deluxe in Prussian(?) Green with the same matching pens as above,
one Carene Deluxe with medium nib in bronze with roller ball,
a beautiful black and gold Charleston set of fine nib, roller ball and 0.5 mechanical pencil,
a similar set of red ebonite Liaison instruments,
a Lady Agatha in Prussian Blue and gold alternating squares (I don't know how to call it),
and coming in a black Le Man 100 with matching ball point.

I like sets.

Whew! That's too many for me now that I look at it. I think it's time to think about getting rid of some - so I can get a blue Edson and matching roller ball.

Peace,

Phroneo

French, do you know where I can get the all-sterling LeMan 100, and the blue Patrician? After that, I am not buying any more pens. I think. lticaptd.gif

Three Waterman's, all vintage:

52 BCHR: nickel plated hardware, original clip broken off & replaced, semi flex nib tines bent but reworked to usability. Ugly but charming and now a fine springy writer.
52 BHR: Gold plated hardware, all original, semi flex tines bent not as badly as above. Much prettier pen, writes nicely also.
52 RHR: No cap, but body is there. Somebody filed down the nib to within an angstrom of its life. A problematic pen.

Nothing since 1925 or so. I'm surprised that people consider old & new Waterman companies to be related?
FredRydr
After the pen bug bit me in December, 2007, I've gathered a couple dozen pens, and four are Watermans with flex nibs for the purpose of learning to write copperplate. Wish me luck.
52 1/2 BHR - fine
55 BCHR - medium
Commando black (surprise, surprise) - fine
100-Year burgundy with translucent ends - fine
The first is very nice, while the latter three are wonderful.

I have 9 Waterman pens at the moment, and they are :-

3 Laureat – all with medium nib
2 Expert II – both with medium nib
1 Carene – with medium nib - soon to be upgraded with stub nib
2 Carene Deluxe – one with medium and the other with broad nib
1 Harmonie – with medium nib

My love of Waterman pens started with the Laureat fountain pen which I received as a gift. I then moved on to the Expert before becoming hooked on the Carene. I have just ordered my 4th Carene, an Amber with broad nib from Pen Seller from France.

I really MUST try to stop buying more Waterman fountain pens embarrassed_smile.gif
Eagle14
Not many -

Hemisphere Black and Gold - Medium (though the writing is extremely broad)
Laureat Marble Green and Gold - Fine (a bit scratchy)

One of those Harley Davidson Powered by Watermans - I've read the threads on these and am not sure if I should include it here.
And an older Graduate -- shhhh!

I only own 2 Waterman pens. I have a Waterman Expert and a Waterman Phileas.

Even though I am in my 50's, and used fountain pens in school, it is only within the past 10 yrs that I have rediscovered them and carry one all the time. I started with a Pilot Capless, very convenient. Now I have a Waterman and I like the weight and feel much more.
HOW DO I TELL WHAT Waterman I have?? Thanks.
Also, are the older vintage pens actually better than the newer ones?
thanks

Here are the Waterman pens I have so far:

- 54 RHR fine flex
- 55 BCHR medium wet flex
- 52 1/2 BHR w/ gold fine flex
- 100-year translucent burgundy (one of my favorite writers - once it starts) fine flex
- Commando scratchy fine flex
- A blue I-don't-know-what-model-it-is, but the plastic looks similar to most Esterbrooks. medium flex
- Ink-Vue - currently undergoing an -ectomy of some sort

These have been collected in the search for a favorite flex nib.

Do you have a picture of it? If it is a newer pen, maybe you can find a picture on a site like www.joon.com or www.swisherpens.com.
Do you have the box it came in? The outer sleeve should have a sticker on it with the name printed on the sticker.
As for older/vintage being better or not, I think it depends on personal preferences. Try 'em all!!

Thanks Diane. Here are 2 pictures. I love this pen. Unfortunately, I dropped it and in addition to the nib being bent, it looks like I might have cracked the "nib holder (?)" as it leaks slightly.
