Full Version: Help remembering which model Parker

I've been trying to remember which model Parker fountain pen I used at school. It was brushed steel and I seem to vaguely remember it having a step in the barrel. It would have been one of the cheaper ones and it was a cartridge/converter. This was probably in the early to mid 80's although it could have been slightly earlier. This was in England but I would imagine they had the same model worldwide. It was probably pretty rubbish but it would be nice to get one for old times sake (it's a pity I didn’t keep my own as it would have been nice to hand down to my daughter now.)

Any ideas people?

Parker 15 (aka "Jotter Fountain Pen")

Or a Vector?

Both are easily available today at cheap prices.

ps - actually im sure that the pen you're referring to is the latter (Vector). These have been (sadly) replaced by a pen called "Vector 2" or some other name, but I'm sure that the original Vectors are still easily available. These are not bad for their price i reckon smile.gif Excellent school purpose pens smile.gif

The Vector name rings a bell but it wasn't the pen pictured. Was this an updated model of a previous design? Thanks.

Hi Lee,
It was almost certainly a Parker 25.

Almost all of the Brushed stainless steel ones that I have seen have blue sections and a blue disc showing at the top of the cap, this is in fact the top of the inner cap and section grip of the closure system. there was a rollerball and a press cap type ball pen, some of the ball pens have a black disc in the top.

It wasn't expensive in its day but much to my surprise one has just gone on e-bay for nigh on a tenner, they are bomb proof, almost literally and write far better than a lot of people thought at the time.

Drop me a line if you want one there is one sitting in the to be disposed of drawer and of course to a nostalgic FPN member it is available. PM if you are interested.

Cheers John

I had a Parker 25 at school as well. Leaked like fury. Still got the thing at my parent's house, I came across it a few months ago.

my apologies - a slip of the tongue wallbash.gif

It's just that I was looking at Vectors with my father the other day at a pen shop, and he told me that the pen he used back when he was my age (I'm a highschool student) looked like the Vector, but not quite the same. He couldnt recall what the model name was.

This post answered my father's question as well rolleyes.gif

Hi Carrie,

Yes they were very popular at school as well as some Sheaffer model that I don't recall. I just received one in the post from Oxonian and it brought back memories of working in the study of a very strict tutor (didn't do me much good mind you), a memory I'd long since banished from my mind sad.gif I do remember having inky fingers but I was always a messy kid. I wish I still had mine from school as it would be nice to pass on to my eldest daughter at some point as she has just started year 1 at school.

I was only joking, there was absolutely no offence taken biggrin.gif Did your dad go to school in England or Australia? By the way I was in Sydney last October for my brothers wedding, what a fantastic place to live. It looks like he may be emigrating over there with Australian wife (currently living in London) lucky b*****D.
