Might someone be able to tell me the age of a Parker 51 that appears more "Midnight" Blue than "Cedar" ~ Gold-filled cap (with striations) ~ greyish jewel at the end of the cap.

"Made in USA 8" listed on barrel ~"1/10 (I think) 12k Gold Filled" listed on cap.

I have no vested interest in the answer ~ but am quite curious. rolleyes.gif

Thanks!

The 8 is the critical number should mean 1948, as to the blue can't answer, but the colour does change, I have three Cedar Blue "51" Vacs and they are all slightly different.

Since one can find both vacumatic and aerometric filler "51"s dated for 1948, the filler will determine the color. Vacumatic=Blue Cedar; Aerometric=Midnight Blue.

I have seen variance in the blues as noted by others.
