Pelipen
Hi all,

I've been lurking around here for quite some time. I've learned a lot from everyone here.

Like KCat I love Pelikans. I couldn't find what Woodwindmaster06 plays, but I'm a fellow woodwind (oboe), so I have a few things in common with a few of you, not the least of which is an obsession with a type of pen.

I too have winced when a coworker tried to pull off a twist off cap
I too have tried to explain why spending a few hundred on a pen is worth it to me. That never goes well.
I think this might be a disease. You buy one, then next thing you know you had a good experience, and one became two, became three...

Happy to jump into the forum, I hope I can contribute in some small way as so many others have.

Hi Pelipen--and welcome! Like you and KCat, I'm partial to my Pelikans, too. For me, it's not to the exclusion of other pens, but I like the reliability and like piston fillers.

I'm sure you'll have much that you can contribute and look forward to your posts.

Best, Ann

Welcome, Pelipen. It's good to hear that you've decided to start posting. I only have one Pelikan -- a humble M200 -- but it's one of my favourites.

Since you are in Singapore, pop over at Mustapha. Grab all the Pelikans inks there. Indians are FP lovers and Mustapha moves a lot of them. 4 of my Pelikans were bought there. Two were bought 2 days ago, they are slim Celebry series. There are cheap Heros for less than 1 USD. I saw one guy ordering them by the boxes. My favorite cheap pens are Pilots eye droppers with traditional looking nibs and huge ink capacity. You can order speciality nibs for Pelikan from Richard Binder. It takes less than a week to arrive from USA. For papers, go to Tango Mango at Tanglin shopping centre. You can find Rhodias there. Finally of course there is Pen Gallery in KL. You will be tempted to buy every Pelikans from them, including the baton length M1000. Altenatively you can order from them online, it takes 2 days to arrive via Fedex. While waiting, you can track how your pen travel, from KL to Subic Bay and then to Singapore, all in one night.

I've been to Mustapha a couple times and there are a lot of pens there, but I wasn't sure if they would stand behind their product. A couple things I've learned are returns in Singapore can be difficult, and even though they're all in the same building, different stalls/booths selling the same thing side by side are not necessarily related.

Ink I can use, and selection here seems limited, exception being Aesthetic Bay. I left my Noodler's Legal Lapis in the States for fear of it bursting all over my suitcase (moment of silence)

I'll check out Tango Mango. A couple people have mentioned that place. I picked up one of these based on some reviews here at FPN, but could use a couple more pads.

Thanks. And thank you everyone for the welcome.
