Jeen, that MB sepia is interesting. My store lists seven MB colours but sepia is not one of them. Is it new?

Journo,
It's one of their newer inks, but it's been out for around a year I'm guessing.
i believe it came out around the same time as their British racing green.
It is easy on the eyes, and i agree that it looks interesting.
It resembles J. Herbin Café des Îles that Hana reviewed, doesn't it?

Jeen, thanks for that information. BRG (which also sounds interesting) wasn't listed by my local dealer either so I suspect that both colours may not have been released here yet. I will check Hana's review. Once again, thanks for the info.

I've found that Noodler's SwishMix Waterproof Burgundy is very near to MB Burgundy (actually it is called Bordeaux), the first may be a tiny bit redder, but very similar, anyway.

Interestingly, this was the ink I just bought on Saturday... funny coincidence. I like it a lot - I haven't had a chance to use it in a flex-nib yet though.

Tell me what you think.
I've been playing with it, and it's already a fave.
The dessert I had this evening provides a better description of the color:
creme caramel (flan)

I stand corrected. It is MB Bordeaux.

Jeen, thanks for the look at the MB Sepia. It doesn't happen to be in my (older) version of Greg Clark's Ink Sampler. Since you like the less saturated inks, you may also like Herbin's Ambre de Birmanie. It's light and leans more to a yellow-brown, as the name would imply.
Best, Ann

Ann,
Thank you for the Herbin recommendation.
I'm trying to hold off on the Herbin inks, because I
have a feeling I will love too many of them.
Cheers,
Jeen
P.S. I mentioned a resemblance of MB Sepia to the color of flan.
My wife says it's closer to the burnt sugar layer of Creme brulee.

Jeen, I managed to get a bottle of the MB Sepia and I really like it. At first, I was a little dubious because I tried to sample it using a dip pen and it refused to adhere to the nib properly. However, I've had it in my 146 (M nib) for a few days and it writes quite nicely - albeit fairly free-flowing - and I have been thinking that it may be better suited for a pen with a Fine nib. I really like the colour.
Cheers,
John

Journo,
Glad you like it!
It's one of my favorites, and I think it goes well with a variety of stationery
colors. I use it in my fine nibbed 'Oscar Wilde' which
has a 146 based nib. The ink color happens to fit this season too.
Enjoy!

Pretty color. How does MB Sepia compare to Diamine Dark Brown?
