I just ran out of blue-black, and I gave my bottle of Lake Placid blue to my sis, so it is time to try another blue.

I am looking for a dark, rich blue with a little bit of a purple tone. Kind of like Parker Blue before it dries down (it looks too washed out when it dries).

Not familair with the Parker Blue, but the J. Herbin Blue Nuit sounds like what you are looking for. A nice dark blue with a lot of purple tones.

Try Levenger's Cobalt.

Rich deep blue, if it were bulletproof it would be perfect!

OMG, have you *seen* Diamine Prussian Blue?

It sounds exactly like what you're looking for. Deep, rich, lucious.

I got a snail written in this stuff and I just fell in instant lust. Had to order a bottle.

Hopefully, it's on the way.

Now if that stuff were bulletproof. . .

Then Aurora Blue could have been made for you. It's very rich and saturated, flows well and has a purple undertone that makes it extra-luxurious. Nice bottle, too!

I came up with a recipe for Constant Cobalt: "3:1 Levenger cobalt blue to Iraqi indigo looks just like straight cobalt blue, but has much better water resistance. Even at 3:2, the color is barely lighter than cobalt blue."

I'll second the Aurora Blue, it's just what you describe.

Also, I've been using a lot of Richard's faux Tanzinite - 1:1 Waterman Florida Blue:Waterman Purple

Aurora Blue!

Long time ago I saw a post from Richard Binder (maybe on PT) and he suggested a 50/50 mix of Watermans Florida Blue and Purple.
I tried it and have been using it ever since.
Works in everything from Big Red to capilliary fill 61s with ZERO problems.

Meant to add - the purple is not as 'purpley' as I feared - just gives a lovely rich blue.

Thanks RB smile.gif

Three suggestions:

Diamine Prussian Blue - my personal 'go to ink'
PR DC Supershow Blue - another good-un, but can be fussy in some pens
Herbin Sapphire Blue - 'Herself's' favorite blue - I am only allowed to buy it not use it now sad.gif

spinwards,
I think I know what you are talking about. I like that quink's wet color, it is bright. Other "standard" blues (Florida Blue, Pelikan, Sheaffer Skrip) have just a little dusty touch, but quink does not, though it is too watered, once dried. Recently I bought bottle of Bril Royal Blue from Vivek. I am impressed with that ink, great properties, on pair with other standard blues, but color. It is exactly like wet quink, not washed out at all. Besides as Vivek said that ink does not fade with time.
I recommend that ink to everybody who likes blues.
