Hello everyone!

I bought my first fountain pen just under a year ago, and my collection has grown to seven pens since then. I've been reading and researching all I can, and I stumbled accross the FPN by chance. I'm glad I did! It seems like a great resources for pen enthusiasts.

I look forward to chatting with everyone on the forums smile.gif

Well, at least you had the disease before you got here and can't blame us for your addiction....

Welcome, Dalanhilton!

I was in New Orleans about two weeks ago. Went to Scriptura on Magazine St. for some Private Reserve ink. That's a great little store! I live south of Baton Rouge on the west bank.

I think you'll really enjoy FPN. What kind of pens do you have?

Hello dalanhilton and welcome to the FPNuthouse! Seven, huh. Just wait and see what happens to that number since you found this place. Did you do well at exponentiation in mathematics? wink.gif Anyhow, tell us what pens you have and hope to see you around the place.

Hello and welcome!

I'm signing in from Slidell and I see you've got a Tulane avatar laugh.gif

Unfortunately there aren't that many pen stores in the big easy beyond jewelery stores and Scriptura ( whose prices go from MSRP on up!).

Too much other stuff going on I guess laugh.gif Nice to see another pen lover in the area.

Welcome to FPN. Hopefully this hurricane season is kinder to the gulf coast than was last years'. This place is really good for information and for lots of encouragement to increase the size of that collection.

How could I forget such an important detail as what pens I have? Silly me.

My first pen was a Waterman Hemisphere, though I use it sparingly these days. I was careless with it early on and dropped it nib first on to the ground, and ever since then it's had terrible leaking problems. sad.gif

For daily use, I have a few Lamy Safaris: a red one that I keep filled with Noodler's "Widow Maker" red, a Vista, and a graphite colored aluminum one.

Last night I ordered a few more that I'm particularly excited about. I found a Rotring 600 series for only $45, so of course I had to get that. I also got a cheap little Retro 1951 pen with a funky design, and this afternoon I bought a Pelikan M215.

Inks are mostly various colors from Private Reserve and Noodler's, though I now use the Aurora black.

And unfortunately for me, southpaw, I've always been rather handy with numbers, and it doesn't take much of a genius to see that my bank account is going to have an interesting time handling the growth of my pen collection that I'd like to see.... wink.gif

Oh, and Tytyvyllus, nice to see another FP enthusiast in the region, I was beginning to think I was the only one! I have heard rumors of a shop called Pendemonium (unlikely that it's related to the website) down in the French quarter somewhere, but they are as of yet unconfirmed.

The only Pendemonium I know is owned by Sam F and is out west! and the Sriptura's little store is all I know of in the view. I did a a quick google and you get this under gifts in new orleans

I have stopped on Royal but found only excessive prices on one or two pens in a case but....

There is a mythical tray of pens purchased by an antque dealer from a New York company, possibly Berliner, that is priced so outrageously high that not a single pen has ever sold but the dealer is so convinced that someone will buy that he has never lowered the price. rolleyes.gif

Greetings biggrin.gif Ooooh, a fellow Hemispherian wink.gif

And you're from a great place too.

Reminds me of an old song about a 'new orleans lady... sassy smile would drive you crazy...'

Enjoy your pens and welcome.

Hi!

Anyone who uses Aurora Black as their main ink is obviously a person of taste - all other "blacks" are just greys once you've seen it!

I live in NOLA. The fountain pen scen is somewaht barren. Scriptura is the main store as you're aware. There is a new store on Magazine near Jackson, who has some Conklin. But for the main, I order my pens and ink on line. Inks, papers and some pens form Pendemonium- service is good. I have also ordered from the Fountain Pen Hospital, Joon and Richard binder.

Hey, brother! There are other fountain pen nutz around, but we keep well hidden. I am Chuck Smith, I live north of st. Francisville, and come down to N.O. every other weekend as a part time pastor of a small church on Power Blvd out in Metairie/Kenner. I go by the handle pf penparson on this site, and simply Rev. Chuck on Pentrace. Maybe we can have a cup of coffee some time when I'm down there.
Blessings on You...

I think the song came out in the early 1980s & I've always thought the line about "from Bourbon street to Esplanade" is funny since the two streets are perpendicular and connect at one end. biggrin.gif I think from Iberville to Esplanade would be more appropriate.
